We came across this place while walking to the cathedral and decided to stop in for lunch. I am so glad we did! It was seriously the best food we had over our entire 2 week vacation it Italy! I got to try 4 of the dishes (mostly pasta) - and all of it was amazing. I ordered the Osso... More

We happened to meet a young fellow passenger on a train who was from Siena, and he said this place was his favorite. He definitely gave us a good recommendation. The food we had was indeed special. I had a vegetable risotto with my new favorite cheese -- scamorza. Incredible. And my husband had a wonderful pork tenderloin dish. The... More

This is a restaurant built on the tradition of preparing and serving local foods and wine. The walls are covered in old photos of the historic horse race that the town is known for, located very close to the Cathedral, well worth a visit

We ate here one evening in November. We arrived around 7.30pm and managed to get a table without reservation but the place soon filled up and people arriving after 8pm without reservations were turned away. Most clients were local and knew the resturant staff but the staff were very friendly and welcoming with us non-Italians too. The food was good... More

This place has amazing food, cooked with care and attention and deliver in a attentive and polite manner. We got a table outside and were surrounded by mainly Italians. We decided to be adventurous and try the Crostini Tuscano (spleen pate with toasts) which is served in a recipient that has a candle to keep it warm, and I have... More

We all had a great meal in this restaurant, surrounded by Italians rather than other tourists. The best starter was the hot pecorino cheese over red chicory and my fillet steak main was perfectly cooked over charcoal.

Excellent homemade food and house wine at a good price. The atmosphere was relaxed and predominantly young with not a tourist in sight!

We were lucky to get the last table, but in the back of the restaurant, where the air-conditioning doesn't reach, so it was uncomfortably hot, even at 9 pm I am sure the service is excellent out of tourist season (There were a number of local families at the outdoor tables.), but our potatoes never arrived and we waited too... food is excellent if some of the dishes are a bit substantial! Close to the Duomo for easy walking access from the town and street-side outdoor seating which is very atmospheric in the evening

Our guidebook listed this as one of its recommendations, and the first time we went we had no reservation and appeared on a Wednesday evening and were welcomed straight in. We had excellent pasta and ragu followed by florentine steak and (in my case) ossobucco. The ragu had a concentrated flavour - not too much tomato and I suspect a... More
