Wonderful Local Cuisine at Great Prices

Good service. Reasonably priced. I'm no wine connoisseur but I really enjoyed the house red. I had the Tuscan salami antipasta and then the wild boar pici. It was great. Couldn't fault it

I would only rate this restaurant as 'not bad', because some 'authentic' dishes were not of the top quality. Bruschetta with tomatoes and mozzarella used processed, grated mozzarella and the risotto used pre-boiled rice. This is not the end of the world and neither were bad, but not quite what one would expect. Other 'tourist' restaurants in Siena do the... More

Delicious....as recommended by our hosts at B &B Gli Archi. We shared a few selections...the risotto with zucchini, wild boar stew, pasta with meat and mushroom sauce, chicken stew and mixed salad. No room for the tiramisu so will be going back for dinner tonight and save room for tiramisu.

We needed to have an early dinner so we went to Fontegiusta as it was open. It's a decent place, but feels like it's servicing the tourists coming to Siena. The starter bruschetta was lovely, and the pizzas we had were nice, but no one came away impressed. The service is a bit casual as well.

We had an early evening dinner at this place. Location is good, not far away from the main square, but far enough not to be that crowded. Service is average, it seems the waiters are not enjoying their job. Had pizzas, the taste was nothing special, had far better pizzas in Italy before. The white wine of the house was... More

Stick with the pasta which was fine as was prosciutto with pecorino. The meat dishes were both stewed. I ordered grilled young pork and got boiled/stewed meat. My son ordered a beef that was also stewed. Overall, not positive.

I wanted to have the pici with wild boar sauce that is a Tuscan specialty. I was pleased to find it here. It was delicious! My 19 yr old daughter had the spinach tortellini with meat sauce. She said it was the best meat sauce she's ever had and she has always been a picky eater. The grilled vegetables were... More

If you want authentic, fresh Tuscan fare this place is worth seeking out. Others on TA have rightly recommended the wild boar ragu with the local pasta (Pici al ragu cinghiale) but the duck ragu is worth trying too. The bread is so fresh as to often be warm and different varieties were served on the days I visited. The... More

For dinner this is just an average trattoria with nice service. But the lunch self service is amazing: Huge portions (smaller portions are even cheaper) of delicious Tuscan food with a few different first, second and side dishes to choose from. Friday is seafood day with usually a long queue. No wonder, it's incredibly good value for money! Unfortunately only... More
