The staff was trying to be so accommodating but it was not enough to divert from the mediocre food (bad veal sauce, almost tasteless pappardelle with porcini -we used the whole bowl of Parmesan- and an "ok" penne with zucchini), the terrible lighting inside, and the noisy, music-less environment. Since everyone was so loud around us, we put some Italian... More

This place has a great atmosphere, with its arching brick ceilings. The food offerings fit very well into Siena's medieval past, and the servers could not be more friendly. It's the only restaurant we've been to in Italy in which the water comes in huge containers and gets filled fast. Worth finding.

Lots of gluten free options on the menu for our little one. Good food, fast friendly service, good value for money, just a shame we had to rush off as we had the long drive back to Rome. Next time, we'll stay for dessert.

This was an included meal as part of a tour. The food wasn't exception by any means and not what we would expect for an Italian restaurant in Sienna. The atmosphere was very nice and the service was OK. We wouldn't return.

Went here after recomended by our hotel as The only celiac certified place in Sienna. It was awful. The wait staff was very unorganized. They forgot my salad. Brought our food out cold and my gluten free pasta looked worse than kraft macaroni and cheese. The other dinners were equally bad. They also had this singer and very loud drummer... More

My father is a wine producer and I went to the Gallo Nero with him to taste the traditional Bisteca alla Fiorentina and a good wine. We arrived at the restaurant with no reservation, but we were waiting for 40 minutes on our feet, in a passageway, between the WC and entrance doors, even with an available table for two... More

Cannot blame the servers for the poor Italian food. We have the pasta Tagliolini with Truffles and it was like eating yeast with Truffles. The fish was bland. The only thing that tasted like food was the water. Avoid it if you are interested in having a romantic or a good food experience. Truly, we feel bad for the servers... More

We had dinner in Gallo Nero on three nights as arranged by the travel agent. In general the food was poor, unappealing and cold... I cannot possibly understand the good reviews of this establishment. The customer service was a joke... And they played the game of not understanding our basic Italian in order to take advantage of us. We have... More

This place is a good example of an old historic place that has a very cozy ambiance and the food is good, our attendant was not so good, for us was a bit on the rude side. The place as I said is very well kept with vaulted ceilings and very tuscan. Also well located near everything but just not in the...
