Great food, wonderful atmosphere, great food and nice people

Fori Porta was recommended but it exceeded our expectations. Ate there twice. Had the Carbonara both times because it was so good. Everything was delicious and great service from the Stephen the proprietor. You just don't need more than you can get here.

We stayed at the Palazzo de Valli hotel across the street from the restaurant. We dined at the Fori Porta our first night in Sienna, and the food was so good we ate there all three nights, not just because of the convenience, but primarily because all the dishes we had were among the best we've eaten in Italy. Highly... More

We had a really nice evening here - tasty starters, amazing T-bone to share and Sienese desserts all washed down with a rather nice Chianti - perfect! I recommend to book ahead as they were quite busy the night we went, it would be a shame to be disappointed as there doesn't appear to be another good restaurant nearby.

The modest exterior gives little clue to just how good this restaurant is. We ate at this restaurant 2 out of our 3 days stay in the area.

Been eating great burgers for decades. Have gone to many of the places in books like "the best burgers in the U.S." We went to Fori Porta because it was close to our quarters and read the great reviews here. Ordered the Foriporta Chianina Hamburger made from the locally bred Chianina steers. Had local Pecorino cheese melted on top, as... More

The restaurant serves hearty, traditional Tuscan dishes. Pasta dishes are very well done, and my ravioli with rabbit was unusual and delicious. Meat is a speciality (no fish) - this isn't a light cuisine, but on a wet and windy night its robust nature hit the spot. Wine was good and reasonably priced; service was friendly and helpful. Certainly recommended!

Food was great. The restaurant was located just across from the hotel's gate, an easy 5 minute walk. The owner was personable and entertaining.

Yes, we actually ate here three nights in a row! It was that good. Between the three nights and also a little sampling of some friends food, we tried about seven different dishes and each one was excellent. The owner was friendly and staff efficient and the price was good. Loved this place!

Very tasty food in a romantic atmosphere. Was just across the street from our hotel and we were recommended by the concierge. Got local pork (Cinta Sinese) as well as beef. The pesto pasta was really tasty and the house wine was cheap and went down smooth.

A real gem (and nowhere near the over-priced eateries inside the city walls)! Delicious starters - beef tartare, figs with goats cheese and pine nuts, and mozzarella "sandwich". Freshly prepared pasta for the mains but all superb with fantastic sauces. Puddings were to die for: strawberry tiramisu and chocolate and orange tart with home made pastry worthy of Mary Berry....
