We had dinner here and they seem to specialize in truffle specialties, which were good but to me a bit underwhelming. I nonetheless enjoyed my ossobuco and the service, ambiance and pricing were all good so I would recommend this place.

You need to walk past the main plaza in Siena to get to the San Giuseppe... It's where all the experience begins. Great atmosphere and great service. I had the Ossobuco that is simply marvelous. My wife and I had a lovely evening, it was the perfect start for Siena... I'm late with reviews... it says May 2014 but in... More

Great ambience in an old cellar-restaurant, don't forget to check out the lower level where they keep wines and cheeses! Very capable serving staff, overseen by the owner, service excellent. Food very good, we had the starter with polenta, hot Tuscan spread and porcini mushrooms (the latter two items served in warming pots) - very filling. Our primi was spaghetti... More

Chanced upon it as we walked the streets of Siena, it provided my wife and I with the best culinary experience in the City. Hands down. We limit ourselves to two pasta dishes, and the food excellent. So were the staff attentions, which proved knowledgeable and experienced. Note that the wine selections were plentiful, and the staff directed us to... More

We booked this restaurant a week before visiting Siena, and were told at our hotel that it was one of the best in the city - and they were not mistaken! The location in the heart of Siena is great, and the atmosphere inside the ancient cave-like appearance really gave it a romantic feel. The service was top notch, and... More

We`d live in Sienna just so I could eat there in a daily basis. Impecable food, intimate environment and personal service make this restaurant the best restaurant in Siena - and, for me, in the world. My boyfriend and I went there during the truffles season and came back everyday to try to eat there. Price is fair for the... More

We walked past La Taverna di San Giuseppe one evening & were turned away for good reason. Reservations are needed & we could see that indeed it was filled to capacity! Our Hotel Villa Elda thoughtfully made reservations for us later that week . Since we had a late seating , we stopped at the Bar Il Palio in piazza... More

My husband and I read the reviews and had to try this place on our own. First, the host, Lucca, was so personable and great. Second, the food was amazing! We started with the puff pastry filled with spinach and topped with truffles. Simply amazing! There were two truffle pasta dishes I wanted for lunch so our waiter suggested a... More

We found this restaurant out of our Rick Steves Italy book and made a reservation that day. Make sure to make one because it gets busy at night. The service and food was fantastic. I got the gnocchi and my boyfriend got the boar ragu and we both got tiramisu for dolci. The dessert was the best I have ever... More
