A tiny trattoria with lots of atmosphere. Great food, great staff, and just a fun place to have dinner. Be sure to get reservations, though, because it is very busy.

It's a small place, just outside out of the main road that serves great local food in descent prices. Its not one of those tourist traps that the area is surrounded with. Great Ragu!
Based on other reviews from other books, my wife and I had to try this place. Seating is very tight, no room to move. You are shoulder to shoulder with everyone. The owner/waiters do not have any courteous manners. They are abrupt, rude, and will argue with you to make sure you are wrong. While the food was not bad,...

It's always a pleasure to find a restaurant in a well known tourist destination that caters not just for tourist trade, but delivers good food.
Seating for maybe 20-24 people, so if you are claustrophobic, maybe this is not the place for you, as you are almost seated on top of the other diners.
The kitchen is open to view,...

We were recommended this trattoria for its excellent food and reasonable price and we were not disapointed. While other places were empty or serving only a few people, this place was allways full! We first went there at 8:00 and were told to come back at 8:30 and it was full during our entire meal. Food is indeed very good!
We have dined here in 2004, 2009, and again in 2013. No trip to San Gimignano should miss out on the opportunity to eat here. Food selection and service is exceptional.
Just inside the main gate of this beautiful walled town and up a steep long flight of stone steps, then down into a vaulted "cave", one finds this small (about 50 places) well run restaurant.
Each of our party of six ordered different items and all were pleased, including the critical French members of the group. The service was prompt...

Un pleasant people!!!
The food was very poor and not cheap at all.
Why wast your time on a place like this when you have so many other places serving tasty food and welcoming host.
There is a lovely place called Il Trovatore.... It is on via dei Fossi 17..., Go...

We went to this little Italian restaurant twice on our vacation. The food and service was excellent. The price was reasonable . Would definately return. Reservations is a must if you want to go for dinner at a specific time. Very small , only 6-7 tables , seats around 25 people. Very cozy!
Very small restaurant, invested with flies. The food was average, really nothing special. The meat too fat, tiramisu too sweet etc. The owner thought himself very funny making jokes about 'silly tourists not speaking italian' (he thought!). We were out of the place within 45 minutes, so they could sell our table to the next party waiting on the doorstep....
