Romance in a Basement Restaurant

The ambiance was excellent, the decor was perfect and the table was set for a romantic meal enjoyed by husband and wife. It even came with it's own high price meal which included a cover charge or 'coperti' of €2.50 each. This restaurant was neither high end nor was it an economy meal either but it... read more

Dorando is a cozy restaurant set near San Gimignano's Duomo. The decor was very nice. Most importantly, the traditional Tuscan food was delicious and the service very attentive! The wine list offers a wide selection of Tuscan wines. Highly recommended

We happened upon this amazing restaurant in a charming backstreet of San Gimignano and were truly thrilled. The wine list is among the most fantastic I've ever seen – it is truly phenomenal with super vintage wines – and the food was fantastic. It is actually a top favorite restaurant experience in Tuscany. We went back twice we were so... More

Main meal was so salty we had to send it back, 2nd time around as salty as the first attempt. Waitress was not happy nor pleasant and overall service was poor. Although we asked for our bill, they did not bring it to us so we had to go to the front desk to pay...unheard of in Italy. Awful food... More

After 10 days in Italy, eating at high end restaurants as well as many local trattorias this was the worst food I have experienced. The Ragu sauce on the pasta was so salty it was not edible. We sent it back and it came back exactly the same. The waitress looked our way a few times but never asked us... More

We visited this restaurant four times when on holiday in San Giminano for seven nights. The service was amazing, food excellent and wine very good also hence we returned four times. It is a family run restaurant , husband is the chef, wife and son wait on and are very professional, friendly and speak good english. Would highly recommend.

A little bit formal for some, perhaps, but they treated us as if we'd walked in via the Ritz. My partner had a duck starter that had some rosemary in the cooking, followed by a beautiful piece of pork with potatoes and apple sauce. As a vegetarian, I often find it difficult to get a meal that doesn't seem like... More

Ristorante Dorando is a welcomed change away from the typical tourist stops located in every piazza. So put a little extra money aside and treat yourself to lovely dinner. As part of the slow food movement Ristorante Dorando has unique, fresh made to order dishes found in the Tuscany region. I ordered the typical tasting menu and my fiance ordered... More

Had both the tasting menus here. Everything was delicious and impeccably presented. They accommodated both our children very well and introduced us to a spectacular wine, Antajr 2008, so exquisite, we visited the producer.

I read mixed reviews on the restaurant before we went, but food was very good. We visited on a Monday evening, and it was DEAD quiet. Whilst I appreciate it is slightly off the beaten track, it was a Monday in June, and on the panoramic vista route, so I would have expected it to be a lot busier. There... More
