We were given recommendation for this restaurant by our hosts in a neighboring village. The food is wonderful, as is the house wine from the affiliated winery (try the local white, Vernacchia, it is excellent), and the service is very good. The views are absolutely gorgeous (try to arrive a half hour before the sun begins to set so as... More

We were recommended to eat at this restaurant when we were staying at Hotel Vecchio Asilo. To be fair there aren't many restaurants in the immediate vicinity so we were pleased that the food served here was of a good standard. The staff are lovely with reasonable English. There are very nice countryside views if you can get a table... More

We stayed in San Gimignano for 7 days and have had 3 meals down in this family run osteria. The staff were friendly and were responsive to our requests. You must try their pasta, its simply delicious. The most impressive ones were their tartufo spinach speciality, pici in hare sauce, wild boar spaghetti and the tartufo tagliatelle. Their spare ribs... More

To be brief, the food is excellent. Traditional Tuscan food describes the menu. The first night I went there, a big, local family also happened to be there for a celebration. That's always a good sign when locals enjoy the food. The wine is from the attached vineyard (Fonteleoni), which can also be visited for tastings, and is very good.... More

Amazing homemade olive oil and wine. Pizza to die for. Of course, the pasta is amazing. 5 minutes from Vecchio Asilo which is an excellent Inn to lodge at.

Rural restaurant in the neighbourhood of Certaldo and San Gimignano. We went there because of the advice of the landlords of our agriturismo. You will find: - very nice views of the environment - very relax atmosphere - very friendly, charming (and English speaking) staff - typical Toscan food, secondi primarely being tagliata - short winelist, mostly local wines at... A lovely place middle in the Tuscan landscape. The service is impeccable and the food was lovely, suitable for small kids and adults. Especially the desserts are of extraordinary quality with homemade ingredients. We have been back to this restaurant for a number of times and we have not been let down by the chef and staff.

If you want to steer clear of touristy restaurants and try authentic Tuscan food, come to Antico Desco. It was absolutely amazing. Tucked away in the Tuscan hills, the rustic food and ambiance is amazing. The service was great too. I am a vegetarian, and after we ordered brushetta the waitress came out to explain that some of it contained... More

We arrived late at our hotel (Hotel Vecchio Asilo, a great hotel) and asked the owner, Elio, for a recommendation close by. He suggested Antico Desco and made a reservation for us. What a great restuarant. Local fare that was delicious, prepared wonderfully and tasted great. They staff couldn't have been nicer or more accomodating. They prepared special brushetta for... More

this restaurant, that usually we call "Trattoria" is in a nice country side, close to my agriturismo, it's very clean, good organized and, most important, they use their own production of olive oil and wine for the restaurant, there it is possible to eat typical toscany food.
