This is a lovely restaurant off the main tourist path in San Gimignano. The food was absolute excellent: amazing spicy octopus, the most delicious saffron pasta! My boyfriend had a stuffed pasta which was totally amazing but a little small for his bigger appetite. That would be my only complaint. The service was good, not too fast which was appreciated.... This was one of the three best meals we had in Italy. It was a quiet night. Only seven or eight other tables seated when we arrived around dusk. Entire meal was outstanding. I selected the cheese course as a first course. Amazing. Local pecorino, all from the same maker. Six varieties of the exact same cheese, from very young... More

A very pleasant restaurant behind the main shopping street in San Gimignano, serving traditional Tuscan dishes. There was a large party of local people in the restaurant, as well as couples and families. The waiter was very helpful and attentive, translated the menu and recommended dishes. Enjoyable meal.

We visited Ristorante La Madragola twice during our 9 day stay in San Gimignano this last April and early May. The first visit was a lunch in their outside area with members of our party enjoying a salad/quiche entrée, a gnocchi dish, wild boar, and giant prawns. Everyone enjoyed their lunch and thought the food was well prepared, tasty, and... More

Great execution by a family that has been in business for many years. These people know what they are doing. The food, service and room were wonderful. The service staff were excellent. It is a bit out of the way but worth the search.

Our last night in San Gimignano and we were looking for a place to eat. Followed the signs to this out of the way restaurant and were not disappointed! We were able to eat here wtihout reservations. The food was excellent, atmosphere was lovely. Would highly recommend!

Chose this place completely randomly owing to a sign on the main walkway. Not to regret it! The food was all reasonably priced and fantastic The simplicity yet taste of the pasta dishes reflects Italian cooking. We went during the Autumn, so mushrooms and truffles take over the tomato as the main ingredient in most plates. We still cannot forget... More

We found this restaurant by accident as the first restaurant we wanted to try could not seat us. The restaurant is vast compared to the other places in San Gimignano but the waiters are friendly and the atmosphere lovely. The food was good and the most memorable dishes were the Wild boar Tuscan style and Rabbit Etruscan style. But what... More
