My husband and I had dinner at La Mandragola by chance, since it was late at night and we didn't have many choices at San Gimignano. The restaurant is very big (which we don't usually like) but we had an outdoor sitting. This outdoor sitting is actually out of the city walls and there was a fence but at night... More

We go for lunch whenever we are in San Gim, outside on a nice day is pleasant, above the road so noise is not oppressive but lovely views. Regular tourist menu, consistently good, but not great, food, friendly staff. Over 8 years we have never been unhappy here.

I stayed in the B&B (see other review) owned by this family and was offered a special set meal for guests. I'm so glad I took the time to have dinner here. The excellent food and outstanding service by Ilaria made this one of the best dining experiences of my month long stay in Rome. I was treated like an... More

We came here for lunch and we all had 3 course set lunch. The first course was a pasta, main was pork chop and fresh fruit. Food was really delicious. The staff was friendly.

La Mandragola is one street over from Via San Matteo, the main "tourist" street through San Gimignano, so many tourists will miss it, unless they wander a bit off the beaten path - or read Lonely Planet, where it's recommended. We were very pleased with our meal. Excellent bread and a great starter of mixed Tuscan cheese and meats. The... More

We arrived in town quite late and many restaurants were full. This one was completely empty. We were shown to the outside section which was actually outside the town wall adjacent to the road. The traffic was very noisy and distracting. Despite being empty the service was slow and the food was disappointing and expensive. There are many better places... More

This is a lovely restaurant off the main tourist path in San Gimignano. The food was absolute excellent: amazing spicy octopus, the most delicious saffron pasta! My boyfriend had a stuffed pasta which was totally amazing but a little small for his bigger appetite. That would be my only complaint. The service was good, not too fast which was appreciated.... This was one of the three best meals we had in Italy. It was a quiet night. Only seven or eight other tables seated when we arrived around dusk. Entire meal was outstanding. I selected the cheese course as a first course. Amazing. Local pecorino, all from the same maker. Six varieties of the exact same cheese, from very young... More

A very pleasant restaurant behind the main shopping street in San Gimignano, serving traditional Tuscan dishes. There was a large party of local people in the restaurant, as well as couples and families. The waiter was very helpful and attentive, translated the menu and recommended dishes. Enjoyable meal.
