Lovely Italian Sunday evening vibe with delicious food to boot

We wandered into San Gimignano relatively late in the evening after the summer heat had died down looking for something simple but couldn't resist Peruca down a side road on the main route into the old town. We'd eaten in a few restaurants in Tuscany and while Peruca was ok, it was just ok. I had the rabbit which was a bit dry and tasteless. Also the service wasn't particularly friendly or welcoming.

Yes this is one restaurant that does deserve the reviews its getting. We had a delicious 3 course meal here and enjoyed every bit. Food was well cooked and presented beautifully. Good wine list and service was first class.

We totally enjoyed our wonderful meal at Peruca - one of the best meals we had in our 3 week stay in Italy. The ravioli and veal were absolutely outstanding!

We had antipasti and primi. The pasta was excellent. I recommend the speciality of the house "fagottini del contadino (ravioli with pecorino, pears and saffron cream). Lovely. Normally is recommended booki in advance. Otherwise try to go after 21.00. They accept (not really happy) people after 22.00.

This was some of the best food we've eaten in Italy. The house specialty of pecorino and pears risotto in a saffron sauce is magic with a local vernaccia. Just amazing. The vibe is also cool - stone cellar meets lovable travel/food book collector. Definitely a great stop for lunch in San Gimignano.

We were here for dinner and had an amazing food experience. We typical toscan food but everything had a special "modern touch". Great service and well worth a visit.

My wife and I had dinner here last night and were duly impressed. Our waitress was Francesca and she was incredible. She walked us through the menu and made great suggestions. My wife is a vegetarian and ordered an red onion antipasti and the crepe antipasti and she said they were some of the most creative and tasty veggie dishes... More
