firstly lets get the food question out of the way as I found reviews contradictory when I was deciding whether to go here. This is very good to just good Italian homestyle simple cooking. which in what may sound like a contradiction to some is designed to be produced in a mass manufactured fashion. if your main concern is a... We've eaten here before so were looking forward to the return visit. The evening started out well with outdoor seating reservations being made the day prior. The black truffle risotto was excellent having small bits of truffles throughout the dish. The anti-pasta plate was also good.. Next came the main course. My wife had a wild boar plate. I ordered... When in San Gimignano we've always eaten at this restaurant because of the views and the quality of the food. Unfortunately this year we were disappointed. It appears to us that it's kitchen can't cope with the large number of guests it now attracts. We tried to book by email, but failed to obtain confirmation. We manually booked for 7.00pm... More

We were on honeymoon and apart from a roof top in Florence this was the most romantic view we had on our trip. Book in advance and ask for the best view as it is a deep terrace and those at the back probably didn't have the same experience we had. The food was perfectly good and tasty but didn't... More

This was a very disappointing experience. By far the worst food we had in 3 weeks in Italy. Sitting inside we were not distracted by the great view, instead by the excessive noise. The tagliatelle with truffles had no visible truffles but was made with the cheaper cream of truffle. The other dishes were equally lacklustre and service less than... More

This is a popular and picturesque spot. The food was first rate, service pretty good, ambiance wonderful, romantic flickering candles and gorgeous panoramic views of Tuscan countryside. Essential to book to avoid a wait and to assure a table at the edge of the terrace in prime position. Negatives are (1) two sitting times, which compel you to go for... More

This is a hard one. The location makes this place super special but we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. One might think that a place in such a busy tourist town, with such amazing views, may not have to try too hard on the actual food front, but the starters and mains, and the wines, were... More

After our visit of San Gimignano – this is surely the most beautiful city we visited when we were in Tuscany –, we decided to end the day at the Vecchie Mura. On the plus side: > The restaurant opens at 6 pm, no need to wait until 7 or 7.30 pm… > Great view on the countryside if you... More

If you going to go to one restaurant in San Gimignano, then this is the one. Book in advance to get a terrace table. Set on the edge of the city walls with amazing views of the valley. Great authentic local dishes and warm friendly service.

We had visited Vecchie Mura previously and knew we had to book to get a prime terrace table, fantastic views with the sun setting, magic. The food was excellent again, a varied menu, well presented and great flavours at reasonable prices reflecting the locality. The staff service was very good, and several were there in previous years. If it is... More
