Description: The " Osteria dei Cavalieri " (The knight’s tavern) is situated in the historical heart of Pisa, a few steps away from the homonymous square and from the famous Piazza dei Miracoli, in a setting full of alleys where time seems to have stood still. In the Osteria it is still possible to leave the table with a festive feeling, captured not only through a meal but also through the enjoyed experience. A place that unites, in a relaxing and warm atmosphere, the most sincere tuscan dishes and refined, always creatively interpreted gastronomical suggestions.A working meal where you talk and in the meantime taste typical dishes while trying creative and inventive combinations made according to the strongest cooking tradition of Tuscany. A pleasant dinner in which you’ll be captured step by step by flavors and solutions offered by the chef and staff of the Osteria dei Cavalieri. All of this is possible in the historical heart of the city of Pisa, a few steps away from the marvellous Piazza dei Cavalieri, the famous tower and Piazza dei Miracoli. The entrance hall of the restaurant is the base of a tower house of 1200.The tables are framed by a characteristic stone ledge: light is shadowing, becomes misty and intimate, thus favouring conversation. In such an environment it is not difficult to lose oneself in unique wine and gastronomic experience. For sure this will grant the occasional visitor a memory, as is the case with the locals, who return time after time in the certainty of being surprised once again. The dishes and menus of the Osteria are born in a climate of perfect balance between innovation and tradition combined with a remarkable choice from a winecellar rich in discoveries and grand classics.

We passed this place by chance while visiting Pisa and were delighted to have found it. We were eating quite early at lunch so there was space but it did fill up very quickly. The food was excellent and was undoubtedly the best meal of the holiday.Mains ranged from a rabbit dish to a salmon and gnochetti (very tasty sauce)Deserts... More

This restaurant deserves its excellent reputation. It has a very wide choice on the menu, but you are not rushed into making hurried choices. The local, seasonal nature of their ingredients is very important to them so it is worth listening to the daily specials. We ate there twice and everything we ate was delicious. It is authentic Tuscan cooking... More

We were accepted without reservation. Smiling welcome, excellent meat and fish dishes at reasonable price. The perfect place to eat in this very touristic city. Do not hesitate to go.

As we knew this place is popular I booked a table by email and got a positive reply the next day. On arrival we were met by a waiter who spoke good English and gave us the choice of 2 tables. We saw several people step by for a table, but it was full so you need a reservation one... More

Lived nearby and found it by coincidence. We stepped in to find it totally booked. The owner fixed us a table anyway and we ordered the Land menu and the local wine. Very delicious food in a friendly atmosphere and to a fair price. Large portions and very good quality. Remember to book a table.

Amazing food perfectly cooked and reasonable prices. House wine was excellent. Advise to book in advance. This restaurant is fully booked every evening and was obviously a favourite of local Italians. I cannot rate it highly enough. Enjoy.

This restaurant was recommended by our host, Carla B&B. We were lucky to arrive early and find a table. I strongly recommend booking a table as we saw many people being turned away because the place became full within 15 mins of our arrival. (probably why there are few negative comments about service in TripAdvisor). The food was magical. we... More

What a delightful surprise to find an authentic local restaurant, well worth the wonderful, winding walk away from the crowds at the Leaning Tower, in the heart of Pisa's fascinating historic center. The food and wine are delicious, the staff friendly, the crowd a mix of art lovers carrying guide books, professors from the nearby universities, foodies, and artists, all... More
