The " Osteria dei Cavalieri " (The knight’s tavern) is situated in the historical heart of Pisa, a few steps away from the homonymous square and from the famous Piazza dei Miracoli, in a setting full of alleys where time seems to have stood still. In the Osteria it is still possible to leave the table with a festive feeling, captured not only through a meal but also through the enjoyed experience. A place that unites, in a relaxing and warm atmosphere, the most sincere tuscan dishes and refined, always creatively interpreted gastronomical suggestions.A working meal where you talk and in the meantime taste typical dishes while trying creative and inventive combinations made according to the strongest cooking tradition of Tuscany. A pleasant dinner in which you’ll be captured step by step by flavors and solutions offered by the chef and staff of the Osteria dei Cavalieri. All of this is possible in the historical heart of the city of Pisa, a few steps away from the marvellous Piazza dei Cavalieri, the famous tower and Piazza dei Miracoli. The entrance hall of the restaurant is the base of a tower house of 1200.The tables are framed by a characteristic stone ledge: light is shadowing, becomes misty and intimate, thus favouring conversation. In such an environment it is not difficult to lose oneself in unique wine and gastronomic experience. For sure this will grant the occasional visitor a memory, as is the case with the locals, who return time after time in the certainty of being surprised once again. The dishes and menus of the Osteria are born in a climate of perfect balance between innovation and tradition combined with a remarkable choice from a winecellar rich in discoveries and grand classics.

Worth walking away from the tower ...

This place had been recommended to us so we knew it was a walk from the tower, almost back to the river. That said, we avoided the tourist traps and got to see the Piazza Cavalieri, a pretty piazza worthy of a short stop. We had a superb 3 course lunch, which was excellent value. The staff were... read more

Great pasta and great wine at great prices. This is a traditional Osteria, but serving 'Michelin' food.

Shear luck: looking for another trattoria, we found this one and had the very best Trippa and carpaccio for starters, salmon, gnocchi and ravioli for mains and lemon parfait with strawberries with caffe. One last table seated us, nice attention to our 3yr old.

One of the best trippa I ever had, spaghetti Bottarga excellent also, very close to the one that I usua eat at SD 26 in New York City. I love the tablecloth service, class & quality married in a perfect atmosphere. Don't forget to ask for the lemon sorbet with a shot of vodka in it, perfect to end your... More

Nice traditional restaurant located in the heart of the city historical center, not far from the Normale university. The decor is simple yet elegant, the service attentive and very professional. The cuisine is very typical and the food we had was absolutely delicious! They always have something off the menu. In particular this time I tried a hazelnut and carrot... More

My husband (Italian) asked for a recommendation for lunch from a local. We passed quite a few places packed with fellow tourists & almost gave up & joined the masses as the Osteria Dei Cavalieri was further away than described. So glad we didn't. Excellent menu & service. We ordered 3 dishes that were off the menu & we weren't... More

If you enjoy great food and exceptional service, then this restaurant ticks all the boxes. We were given some fabulous recommendations by the waiter, who even went to the extent of showing us what fish we ordered as we did not know the English name for it. The food was all very artistically presented and delicious. Great atmosphere, service and... More

Having noticed we were a bit flustered, or waiter asked if we were in a rush, as if so he'd start telling us about the specials straight away. A great start followed up with great food served without delay. We had the typical Tuscan soup (ribollita), tagliatelle with white truffle and steak with cheese (scamorza) and vegetables, all absolutely delicious.... More
