Hidden in the University of Pisa quarter right off the Lungo Arno is run by the family with a long restaurant tradition. Absolute freshness is guaranteed by the simplest menu. Fish or Terra, each consisting of three courses. Nothing else is served with the exception of several home made deserts. We more than enjoyed a mushroom menu with fresh ovoli... More

We came across Osterio del Violino by chance while looking for a lunch stop. We usually avoid places that are nearly empty but this was lunchtime and we found ourselves drawn in. What a find! Friendly personal service and a "meat or fish?" Menu. We went with the flow and had a fabulous, memorable experience with great food and wine.... More

We've eaten at the Osteria del Violino twice, once with a group and once by ourselves. In both cases, we were impressed by the high quality of both cuisine and service. The wood fire was very welcome on the cold and rainy nights on which we visited. The choice of set menus, which seems to bother some reviewers, permits the... More

Came across it hunting for a place to eat. Owners English as good as my Italian but enough to be able to order. I had fish meal, partner had the meat option. Absolutely excellent! He had mix of salamis & olives to start; I had a mixed plate of mussels, eel stew and a scallop baked in sauce. Then he... More

It was the first place we visited in our trip through Tuscany, and it was a wonderful beginning. The place was not full with tourist, the prices were okay and the food was awesome! The best was the personal treatment we got by the owner, it made the whole experience unforgettable.

First off, it is hard to find a decent place in Pisa, which is not packed with tourists (which makes you doubt the quality of the food up front). After searching for about an hour, we found this little gem, quite empty (4pm) but with a nice atmosphere and very good prices. The waiter was very kind and engaged in... More

Great service, even better food. The owner makes you feel right at home. Found this place accidentally while backpacking through Pisa with my friends and had our best meal in Italy. Great ambient music to eat to. From Los Angeles.

Past this restaurant one morning whilst out for a walk & checked reviews on here. So pleased we did The food is out of this world, it is a set menu can either have meat or fish. Everything is local produce & whatever is fresh that day The chef/owner is really enthusiastic & explains where everything is from Our steak... More

Stumpled upon this when unusually having two hours to kill before a flight from the airport and it happened to be lunchtime. You either choose the fish or the meat menu and they serve you whatever is fresh and good that day. On our day in mid-January it was all really excellent. We shared the fish menu between two and... very limited choice (it is either beef or fish menu: two options only), but good food, reasonably priced. It is a simple venue, but all in all ok. Wine list limited, but varied and again ok and reasonably priced.
