Just had a weeks holiday in Italy. Flew Newcastle - Pisa. Stayed first and last nights in Pisa, had two nights in Florence and three nights in Venice. Our first and last nights were in the HOTEL MODERNO which is situated in the centre of Pisa and is only about 200yds from the railway and bus stations. It is nice... More

We returned to this restaurant as we had such a lovely meal there on our last trip. It has an old fashioned sort of quaintness that makes it feel very homely and welcoming. The food is excellent and the house wine was good too. Reasonably priced. The owner has a wicked dry sense of humour which adds to the fun... More

Recommended by the lady in Hotel la Place, 2 minutes away, outside bit off-putting. Once in we were treated like royalty. We were in Pisa because we were delayed because of the air-traffic strike..3extra days holiday!!! We ate here 3 times, it was our 40th wedding -Anniversary on the Sunday and we had special treatment, Giovanni was a delight. Wine,... More

...just to eat at this restaurant. The main draws are the food, which invariably is among the best we ever have eaten, the house wines, which ARE the finest we have drunk while in Europe, and the plates of wonderful desserts. Very nearly as important is the presence of the two servers, both of whom always remember us and treat... More

Our hotel (La Pace) recommended this restaurant to us as a nearby establishment within walking distance from the hotel. It is near the main train station. Bottom line, the food was local cuisine and outstanding. We were a party of 5 adults and each ordered something different: veal with mushrooms, veal with a lemon sauce, risotto, pasta with white clam... More

After reading the reviews and realising it was quite close to our hotel, we came here on our first night in Pisa. The food was beautifully cooked, the house wine was really good and excellent value for money. We returned on our last night in Pisa.

This is a restaurant close to NH Cavalliere hotel where we stayed. Therefore we opted to eat here and also due to good reviews here in TA. The food was delicious. I had the seafood platter consists mainly of squid, 2 shrimps, etc. while my husband had entrecôte. Both of us were happy. The old man taking our order was... More

May have been in the same evening as David D below. Witnessed either the same situation or, what I thought at the time, the owner refusing a tip. Either way it was a very nice gesture. Regarding the food - best I had all week. Great pasta and fish, well cooked and good portion sizes. Total bill for 2 €48.... More

Lovely staff. Really rustic. Simple but tasty food. Good lager. Good portion size. Lots of choice on the menu. Lots of Italians not too many tourists.

What a surprise it was eating at Lo Schiaccianoci! As a family of 7 we received a welcome as if we were close family friends, our waiter was very friendly and patient with our 5 children (who actually behaved fairly well), he took special care of us and was fast with our drinks and bread while we decided on our...
