In the historical center of Pisa, in the street connecting Piazza dei Cavalieri to Piazza San Frediano and Lungarno Pacinotti, there is an elegant restaurant: La Sosta dei Cavalieri, which offers its guests excellent dishes not only based on tradition but also on sea and land food , served with the best Regional, Italian and foreign wine labelsThe Sosta has been created and is run by the same shareholders of the famous restaurant Osteria dei Cavalieri. At La Sosta there are about 25 seats. Its furniture is made of solid walnut wood. The atmosphere at La Sosta is cozy and warm. Wines are preserved in a very excellent way, in an at sight cellar that due to its beauty can leave you breathless.La Sosta’s menu is thought up and reinvented every month depending on the quality of the fresh ingredients that are available and for this reason you can always taste different dishes and discover the tastes and flavors of the season you are in. We offer both a traditional cooking of the most typical dishes based on products of the land and a traditional cuisine based on fish of high quality, and never bred and if possible home-grown. The offer is enriched with a refined proposal of meats and cheeses. The staff of the restaurant La Sosta offers its guests an important Wine List which selects and contains the best Italian and foreign labels, with particular attention to the traditional red wines of Tuscany and Piedmont, references of the Italian regional excellence and a careful and sophisticated selection of French wines. Champagne and Burgundy to mention some of the most represented areas.During the year, at La Sosta are organized events, theme dinners and interesting tasting evenings. All guests taking part in these events will be able to spend a different evening, conceived and organized by the Staff of La Sosta whose purpose is to educate and pleasantly surprise the Guest. The traditions of a region are known also through its good food and the aware testing of its food and winesAnyone who wants to receive notifications about our events can register to our Newsletter in the contact section.

We were looking for somewhere for lunch after walking to the leaning tower. We were advised by a nice young lady in the Tourist office near the station to look in the Via San Frediano. Some of the restaurants were closed on Saturday lunch time but this was open and looked busy. it was an excellent choice. We had an... More

We poked into a luxury hotel in Pisa for a restaurant suggestion from a man at the front desk, who sent us to another restaurant -- but this one, a sister restaurant across the quiet street, attracted us with its relative informality. It was nearly empty -- one of other table was occupied, usually a warning sign -- but we... More

The hotel recommended the restaurant to us. It is small but obviously very popular with the local more elite set. If you want somewhere with local flare, reasonably priced and good service I would highly recommend it.

Quite astonishing meal. This place has been well reviewed by TA reviewers and by Rough Guide but the lunch we had exceeded our wildest expectations. Suggest try the home made guinea fowl ravioli and follow this with the semifreddo di crema al croccante di pistacci di bronte. This dolce simply dissolved in our mouths! We washed this superb meal down... More

Like many people we stayed one night in pisa before flying home. We couldn't get onto our first choice restaurant, but if you end up here, you won't be disappointed. The mixed grill looked unfeasibly enormous. We had a fresh fish dish and ravioli, both great. Good bye Italia, hope to see you soon!

We actually found by accident La Sosta dei Cavalieri as it didn't work out with the restaurant we selected. Convinced by the front-door and the menu, we entered being a bit worried that it might be too late. We got very well welcomed and were already delighted with the setting, sober but nice and relaxing. I opted for the menu... More

We went here specifically because they said they could cater for a gluten free diet and we were not disappointed. Whilst the menu was not specifically gluten free, the staff were knowledgeable and happy to adapt a dish if possible. Great wine cellar too

Stayed the last night of a Tuscany tour in Pisa and stumbled across this restaurant en route to the City Centre. The menu could not have been better for me. I adore guinea fowl and wild boar and both were on the menu as a starter and main. Coupled with broad beans, pasta and polenta, I could not have been... More

La Sosta is a contender for my favourite dining experience of the year, thus far. The restaurant's clientele is almost exclusively Italian and a testament to the quality of the food and wine. I selected the "Menu for land tasting" and feasted on a scrumptious antipasti of pumpkin and almond pudding with cheese sourced from Volterra. The primo was a... More

Good restaurant in town with a nice choice of fish and meat dishes. Inspired by the local tradition, but with good ideas. WIne choice is excellent! Fish fresh and very well prepared, that would be our recommendation. The only down side is appearance. It feels like a cheap "trattoria" (which it is not). Advice for the owner: change your furniture!
