An Italian friend of ours suggested that we visit a 'trattoria' in Italy. We came here. There was nothing upmarket about Il Campano's exterior appearance, That shouldn't put anybody off. If we ever get back to Pisa we'll want to return to 'Il Campano'. Fabulous night as well - San Ranieri's day!

This restaurant is tucked into a corner of a little square. If we could find it, you can too. You won't be sorry. We did not have a reservation, but we were luckily seated right away in the outdoor area which was very cozy. The service was very attentive. The staff did not speak much English but still communicated well.... More

The place itself doesn't look fancy, but the food is outstanding! The food is very well done and my husband was really happy with the bistecca alla Fiorentina. The selection of wine is also nice! =)

This was my third time eating at Il Campano and my third time leaving so full that I could barely walk...due to a combination of my inability to practice self-restraint at Italian restaurants and the great food. Il Campano doesn't have a wildly extensive food menu, but what it has, it does well. We desperately missed the pecorino and truffle... More

Been here on two separate visits to Pisa. Lunch and dinner. Same result - top nosh. Nice atmosphere, charming decor, friendly service and great food. Risotto superb and the lamb chops are to die for! Make sure you visit

We had an excellent meal here during our only night in Pisa, it had been recommended by our hotel and we weren't disappointed. The menu wasn't huge, which tends to point to freshly prepared and cooked dishes rather than warmed up pre-prepared food. The seafood pasta starter was just sublime and the steaks were fantastic. Great wine choice though! Good,... More

Our hotel recommend this place as did a couple of other people and it was rubbish. Very limited menu, not very good food (bland which was surprising in Italy) and terrible service. If someone recommends it, don't bother!

What more can I say? My host brought me here for dinner and I thoroughly loved it. I was assured by my host that the food was authentic Tuscan cuisine - primarily meat and pasta. I was not disappointed, everything we had, from the Tuscan antipasto, to the pasta dish (mine was a simple garlic (lots of it) and tomato... More

The first night we tried to get in we were told they were full but we were told we could eat outside - it was cold and dreary so we booked for the following night. The restaurant is small - downstairs - but we were shown up past an empty table to the cavernous upper floor where we were the... More
