Normally, I would avoid giving bad reviews, but I have learned a few things from this experience. We went to this place one evening in October, following the recommendation of the hotel staff. Should we ask the hotel for place to eat in the first place? Maybe not! Anyway, we have not made a reservation and it was 7pm.The place... More

Went to a wonderful little restaurant in Lucca in the 21st of October 2014 claled "Gli Orti" on the Via Elisa in Luccawith my wife. brother and sister in law. All the meat and pasta dishes were first class, and the table service was very good. Restaurant had inside and alfresco tables. We chose the alfresco table as the weather... More

The setting was good, and the food was excellent; however, the service was unbelievably poor. There did not appear to be one server ultimately responsible for our table – instead, just about every server in the establishment either delivered or cleared a serving at some point. As such, no attempt was made to understand or meet our needs. The server... More

During our two weeks in Italy I had been sort of half heartedly looking for Capretto (young goat) on a restaurant menu because I had read about it in "Under the Tuscan Sun". Didn't find it until our next to last night in Italy at this restaurant. Of course nothing would do but that I had to have capretto. It... More

Enjoyed a nice meal at Gli Orti starting with the house risotto "Gli Orti" and moving on to the recommended Capretto (young goat) all accompanied by a tasty Chianti. Ended with caramelised Macedonia (fruit salad) with vanilla ice cream and finishing with cafe ristretto. Very satisfactory and all for 38€. Friendly and efficient service, a very welcoming atmosphere. No disappointment... More

My husband and I are renting an apartment near this place and had lunch a couple of weeks ago. It was good but not exceptional. The service was excellent and the dishes we ordered were well prepared. It's not in a tourist area which is nice. We have now eaten at numerous restaurants in Lucca and this one did not... More

This is a great luncheon spot with lots of local business people included. Elisa is a casual restaurant with very good service and basic Tuscan fare that includes fresh local produce. The food is inexpensive and the wine list includes some very good local wines.

We had a day trip to Lucca but prior to going this restaurant had been recommended to us by the owner of the B&B that we were staying at and she luckily had booked for us. We were there on a Saturday night and the restaurant was very busy: quite a few people were turned away. We sat outside as... More

I had the task of organising dinner & lunch on separate days for groups of around 20 persons at a time. I guess I'm fortunate that my family is Lucchese & can speak fluently & dealing with the manager Cristian made it very pleasant & worthwhile. I organised fixed menus of typical Lucchese dishes together with wine & the food... More

A good meal bit not a great one. I had the white meat pasta to start which was good but nothing special. Next I had the roasted veal which was overdone and a bit tough. Service was pleasant and attentive. Had just expected more in the heart of Tuscany.
