We recently spent several nights in Lucca and our hotel recommended this restaurant - and we were glad they sent us here. The service was top-notch, the food was excellent and the wine was superb. We simply wanted "something" to eat, but stumbled upon a really great and deservedly popular toprestaurant in Lucca. Fortunately, they still had a table for us, next to a wine tasting couple (the choice of excellent wines is enormous here, say of phonebook size), with on the other side several undoubtedly commercial locals who happened to meet here and seemed... We had booked to go here after the Puccini concert at the closeby San Giovanni church. We were seated outside which was a little on the cold side. But our evening's entertainment was provided By the extended family meals taking place around us. Everyone seemed to know each other and the children were running around on the neighboring piazza, and... More

We ate here last week.....four adults and two,children....on a lovely sunny day for lunch sitting at one of the outside tables. We were the second table to be seated and over, the course of the next thirty or so minutes many other tables were taken. My poor reviews is really about the service we received. More than half of the tables... More

The food was amazing as well as the service. We sat outside but I feel like we should have sat inside. The roof has been painted in the main room wich adds a certain amount of charm. All in all very nice

One of the most memorable lunches in Italy. Perfect food on warm sunlit patio off a cobblestone square. Quiet, yet refined lunch place that Italians actually eat at! Service perfect; kids and adults had antipasto, pasta, and meat courses, and ate it all with pleasure! Adults had wine in the sunshine. A perfect lunch in a lovely Italian town.

Try to seat outside as you can then people watch and look at the beautiful architecture of the piazza. Great food, wines, service and reasonably priced. Worth a visit.

Old style fancy restaurant in downton, from the outside it does not seems to be as nice as it is once you get inside. The first impression you get once you are in is that you can leave everything behind you, relax and enjoy your stay in ancient building still full of charme. The menu is pretty wide with a... More

We have eaten at many restaurants in the Centro Storico in Lucca. The locals, when I asked where to "get a good steak", often recommended Giglios. We finally went. I ordered a steak . The waiter, even after referring to the chef, could not be specific as to the cut of meat! It was not only cooked too long for... More

Dear PeterWesleyFrancis, We are very sorry to read that you had an unpleasant experience in our restaurant. It would be extremely helpful to know what kind of stake you had, was it a T-bone steak? Our T-bone stakes are usually cooked to a "rare" point unless otherwise requested by our clients, they tend to be tender and tasty. There are... More
