We stumbled upon Ammodonostro during a heavy rain storm looking for a place to eat after having been turned down at our preferred place, which was packed. Although the restaurant was completely empty we decided to give it a go. And glad we did! Nice, modern and clean interior, friendly staff and incredibly tasty food. Ammodonostro has a good selection... More

AIC certified restaurant for people with celiac disease. They know how to avoid cross contamination and you will feel very safe eating there. Service was excellent. Try the gnocci (made with rice flour), so light and delicious. Best gnocci (GF or non) that I've had.

This was our first meal in Lucca and upon entering, I wasn't expecting much given the simple surroundings. However, we were both greatly surprised by the high quality of the food. We went for lunch and had the menu which was a main, a dessert and a glass of wine at the extremely reasonable price of 16 euros. But the... More

I've eaten here a number of times over the past few years. As always the service is very friendly and helpful. The wine list is interesting and has quite a few half bottles allowing one to try a number of things over the course of a meal. Tonight, I have to admit the exceeded themselves- a pigeon risotto which I... More

This is the fourth time I've eaten here. We were four and were not very hungry. The menu was imaginative and well balanced. We each ordered something different. Each course was delicious and nicely presented. The decor is crisp and modern. We drank a bottle of excellent Malbec. Judging by our bill, we considered we had a good dinner at... More

We ate at Ammodonostro our first night in Lucca. The food was delicious, especially the zuppa di farro and the fegatini. The restaurant was very clean and well set. Our server was extremely polite and even spoke some English. I can tell the owners of this restaurant have great pride in the relaxed atmosphere and home cooked food. Yum!

I stumbled upon this restaurant, and so glad I did. The family/owners are lovely, relaxed, and completely wonderful, as is their cooking and service. Never felt rushed. Menu changes daily. Speicals are amazing. I had a gnocchi di casa (homemade) with porcinis that was heavenly, fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth clouds of delicsiousness. The cnocchi were made with rice flour, and hence gluten-free,... More

Ammodonostro was reccommended by our B&B partially because of it's lovely patio area. Unfortunately, we were in Lucca on a cool, rainy day so we had to eat inside. We actually got there when it had just started to drizzle and got a table easily but within 5 minutes with the rain getting worse, the place filled. Because of that,... More

My friend and I ate here twice and were completely happy each time. The garden atmosphere is charming, the service is friendly and prompt, and the food was delicious and fairly priced. I had been craving soup, and the onion soup I received was the most delicate, golden, just sweet enough creation I have ever had. No cheese on top.... More

Ammodonostro is unusual in that the food isn't the only thing that is good. The prices are so low as to be rather amazing, making it the best value restaurant in all of Lucca. It is also posseses one of the most beautiful gardens in all of Lucca. The staff is friendly, the owner-chef Francesco is delightful. Near the end... More
