We had one of our best meals at Villa Bongi. It had fantastic views, the service was brilliant and the standard of cuisine was Michelin standard. It was a very pleasurable experience and if we were in the area again we would definitely make sure we visited it. The food is on the expensive side for Italy but the quality... More

Matteo and Cristina and their two partners took over Villa Bongi seven months ago. We had an exceptional evening there on Sunday 22 June 2014 (our 24th wedding anniversary) with friends. Matteo and Cristina were welcoming, charming and very knowledgeable. The menu was sourced locally, including the wine, and Matteo's knowledge and enthusiasm was inspiring. The food and wine was... If you visit Lucca you must make time to visit Villa Bongi, just 15 minutes away from the centre and about 25 Euros in a taxi. What make this place so special is three key things. - The views & restored former monastery - The team - The delicious fine food We were treated like old friends and made to... More

I have been lucky enough to stay within walking distance of Villa Bongi for over fifteen years when vacationing in the Lucca countryside, and I always felt eating there with Marco and his Australian wife was a frequent highlight of my time there. However, this year ( 2014) I found that the restaurant is under new ownership/management and is even... More

My wife and l were recommended this lovely place for a sunday lunch. It is a bit tricky to find, so thank god for gps, because when we came, we had a super 4 courses lunch with wine, water and coffee for as little as 20 euro p.p. Don't miss this great place. Gert seir

I'm so glad my husband found this restaurant. After a beautiful drive from Lucca, we were a little early for Sunday lunch. We were warmly greeted by Leigh who offered us some water and a look at the menu while we were waiting. We took their advice and had the prix fixe lunch, which included a wonderful antipasto of local... More

Villa Bongi is a very special restaurant- one of the best my wife and I have been to in Tuscany. The owner Marco was on front of house duties and was fabulous during our whole meal. The location and views are superb. The meals we enjoyed included a beef tartar with a stunning local hard cheese, risotto with prawns (... More

We had a great meal in this restaurant. We shared some appetizers and all of them were delicious. The broiled salmon with a truffle cream sauce was outstanding. My Tuscan style sliced pork was perfect and my wife's homemade gnocchi was truly amazing. Great atmosphere and Marco the owner was a perfect host. I'm sure we will return before we... More

Depending on the season my favorite pasta on the menu changes. The venison is always excellent as well as the duck and the steak.
