Superb food and friendly staff

We had the most delicious dinner at Villa Bongi. Friendly and very professional staff. The food was delicious. We where a family of 11 (age 9 to 65) and everyone was very satisfied with there food and the service. The view is breathtaking. The trip is a little difficult if you're use to mountains... read more

Following the excellent rating in TA and recommendation from our guidebook, we booked a table for dinner. The place is very nice, the waiters are charming and helpful, and the wine we had was good and reasonable in cost. That's it for the pros. Now the issues : basically, a restaurant is a place where you want to eat something... More

We would like to point out from the outset that Villa Bongi is not infallible. As much as we would like to be perfect every time. Lately with this never ending heat and just for the benefit of our guest we tried to create a selection of cold dishes:for exeple in our 6 courses tasting menu, 2 of 4 starters... More

Wow. Villa Bongi was always a special place and holds great memories. And the good news is that, after a period of transition, the restaurant is not just back to its best -- it's gone to a new level. Exciting, adventurous food and attention to detail in the most spectacular surroundings. A three course meat or fish tasting menu is... More

This was easily the best dining experience we have had in 3 trips to Italy. When you visit Restaurant Bongi you get the whole package of attentive(but unobtrusive service) from Matteo and his team, amazingTuscan views..but best of all inspired menu choices beautifully presented. Well worth the trip to get there and the 4 of us were reluctant to leave at... More

It is quite a trip to get there, but once you arrive, it is worth every second of it. The view from the terrace is magnificent. The food is delicious - also for vegetarians - and the very friendly host knows what he is talking about. A special night out! Make sure to check if they are open. (We found... More

Absolutely as wonderful as you could imagine. Perfect view, phenominal service and the food and wine was superb. The drive to the restaurant is a bit convluted, but very much worth it! Exquisit from start to finish... Loved dining on the patio and watching the vally and hills fade into night.

Beautiful location, lot of green. Staff professional and friendly. My friend had a combination of 4 antipasto: baccala & a fried fish are very very good, octopus & another fish just so so. I had a land menu: antipasto is rabbit on mashed potato, very good. Then a pasta with wild boar ragu, good. main dish is a piece of... More

We set out to find Villa Bongi as a friend had said it was a must. It's a tricky drive into the hills but so worth it The views are stunning from the terrace(although we ate inside as early may not quite warm enough) Matteo who served us was impeccable and the dishes he recommended were fabulous.

We chose Villa Bongi for a birthday celebration with our family. The restaurant is in the hills of Montuolo, about 20 minutes from Lucca. Its remote location makes it a nice, quiet and intimate place to really take the time to enjoy a meal with a beautiful view of the valley and hills. We all chose their 6 course menu... More

Just came back from a trip to Florence and made a special trip to Lucca to visit Vila Bongi. (Long story short, knew the owners from a few years ago). We had the restaurant to ourselves (4 of us) at lunch, since they were reopening that night and told us to stop by for lunch. The restaurant itself is beautiful... More
