Recommended by a friend and by front-desk staff. EXCELLENT food. Try their wild boar, it is amazing.
We got a local red wine, antipati delle casa, ricotta spinach pasta and penne diavola, then tiramisu. Everything taste very well, not overpriced. There were many tourists, but also some locals. We will come again.
This restaurant was in "Italia, La Guida Michelin 2013"...We wanted to give it a try. We were all happy with our decision. It was a wonderful place to enjoy local dishes. We loved everything we ordered. They had very generous portions... The prices were reasonable. Their Panna-cotta was note worthy. Although it was crowded, the service was efficient.
This restaurant, started in 1945, is a true find in Lucca for authentic local dishes and wine. The staff was very hospitable and welcoming. The ambience is that of being in a restaurant that the locals frequent. The location is very convenient to the perimeter of the inner city. We were "walking the walls" around the perimeter of Lucca and... More
We arrived in Lucca in the middle of the Com/Con - their version of our comic convention. To say the least - the city tripled in size. But Da Giulio handled the crowds very well. What an excellent restaurant. Food and Service were superb! We arrived early (reservations are a must) and they had us sit outside with complementary Prosecco.... More
You know when you walk in a restaurant on a Monday night and.....it's full of locals, you start thinking...."this must be a good sign" and it sure is! This is a family restaurant, offering amazing local dishes, not the tourist way, but the local way. Something like...mamma's food! The staff is very friendly and talkative. It is one of those... More
Stumbled onto this place - what a great find - a bit off the beaten path but well worth the effort - every dish was superb- no rush and a great atmosphere-
I love Da Giullo. It's friendly, the food is terrific - try the farina; it's as good as it gets. Da Guiliio has been around for many decades, but it keeps the food bar rather high.
My wife and I love Italy, Italians and Italian food. We enjoy sampling the local specialties. In Lucca we recommend Trattoria Giulio: excellent selection of typical local dishes, very nice atmosphere, comfortable (not one of those restaurants where tables are jammed one as close to the other as possible), friendly and knowledgeable waitresses. We ordered two Lucchese soups to start:... More
Can't say this was the best dinner we had amongst other trattoria's we have been to across Tuscany, but they had good choices, helpful and friendly staff and it is very clear it is THE place for locals as it was full despite the big size of the restaurant. Pasta dishes were OK. The veal stew with olives was an... More
