Authentic Tuscan food and very reasonable prices.

Da Giulio was recommended by an Italian friend as a great place to find authentic Tuscan specialties. We were not disappointed. This restaurant stayed open late to serve us as we had arrived very late in Lucca. They were most accomodating, and the food was wonderful. Try their pasta, and their anti pasto plates. A must for Lucca

I ate here alone on a Monday evening. The restaurant was pretty busy with locals - always a good sign. Some of the food is Tuscan such as the veal lungs, tripe and hare, but there is an excellent selection of food here and I loved my ravioli, salad and Creme brûlée. This is a plain restaursnt. No flowers or... More

This is an unpretentious restaurant with several enticing options. Our pasta al ragù was fantastic, we had the tortelli and they were light and well served. The pork, which was a daily special, was juicy and very flavorful. We also had the lentil soup, which was creamy and tasty. Perhaps next time, no tiramisù, as the coffee was quite weak... More

We have been in Lucca 3 weeks and have eaten at many very good restaurants, but we keep coming back to this one. We ate here a couple of times with visiting friends and family and everyone loved it. You can see it from the path on the wall, just north of the bus station. Lots of locals eat lunch... More

In this family-run trattoria, we ate one of the best italian meals of our lives. My Dad is Italian, he loved it. Be sure to ask for Zuppa di Farro, (barley soup). An exquisite tuscan soup. And do not forget to soak your bread in Giulio´s olive oil. Would come back any time!

The food is really good here. Traditional Italian food. This place has 250 seats, but we never had the feeling it was big. We eat downstairs, as you come in. A cosy room with a table or 20. Decor is nice, some photo's and memorabilia on the wall. Menu is in Italian and English. The nice lady who helped us... More

I have visited this Trattoria on 3 occasions previously when I have been in Lucca, and it has been consistent. On this visit we were 6 female friends. The atmosphere was lovely, the service was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the Tuscan food and local wine. My friends were delighted and when we made a second visit the staff placed... More

Relaxing evening with good friends and good food. The service was very good...made us feel like long lost family. Would return with pleasure. I had the veal with white wine sauce and it was delicious. Dessert pear and chocolate tart was exceptional.

Upon a recommendation we had dinner here our first night in Lucca. It was great local Italian fair. The wine list was priced nicely with a good selection. The service was timely and not over the top. I would definitely say go and I would reinforce my recommendation with the caveat that this is, according to a local, one of... More
