Traditional Luccan dishes, more locals than tourists.

We had eaten here 10 years ago, and remembered our meal fondly. You never know what to expect after a decade, so we were pleased to find it just as good as we remembered. This is two large rooms with stone walls; nicely but unpretentiously decorated. The emphasis is on traditional fare from Lucca... read more

Great food with a good choice of more local food rather than a standard menu. Particularly helpful waitress. Open and airy restaurant and we saw lots of locals come in an eat as well as us tourists. This is not a pretentious restaurant but somewhere to return to when you want a nice restaurant with good food. It felt under... More

The food is great, traditional and home cooked style (not haut cuisine, but honest Toscan food). Try antipasta misto for diferrent treats. I specially liked the salsice fagioli, would go back just for that! Service is friendly, menu is explained in Italian and a little English.

We stumbled upon this nice traditional restaurant after walking on the city wall. We were there for a late lunch. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, especially the owner was lovely. We both had a pasta. Although very simple, the taste was great and very cheap.

The food here seemed to be a mixture of Tuscan dishes and the usual Italian restaurant fare. It was well enough cooked and generally quite tasty but rather unimaginative in content and presentation. It was a bit 'plonked on the plate'! Considering it is well off the beaten track as regards passing trade - you wouldn't be too likely to... More

We ate here 3 years ago and loved it, full of locals and great daily specials . We have a mixed starter and then pork ribs with olives and steak with a cream and green peppercorn sauce. Water and 1/2 litre of house wine a salad and some amazing sage potatoes and we were full. Less than 50 euros for... More

I was recommended to this restaurant by the B&B for authentic Tuscan foods. My intention is to try a local delicacy of "tripe" and it was very impressive. I also got another special menu of veal's lung which is also nice. The price is very reasonable, the service is warm and lovely. If I'm back to the area, I'll definitely... More

My husband and I arrived in Lucca after a day of travel from Rome via Sienna and San Gimingnano. We were tired and the hotel directed us to Da Giulio, nearby to Palazzo Alexander. We had a very delicious antipasto, salad and amazing fresh pasta dishes. All this was coupled with a perfect red wine and fabulous service! The woman... More
