The First and the best!

I booked a table for myself and my wife on our first night in Lucca and the meal turned out to be the best we had at any restaurant that we had during our week stay in Italy. The menu was not extensive but varied and the size and quality was very good. The flavour was fabulous and you could... read more

We had a lovely meal here. It is a large restaurant with a few rooms inside. We share antipasto platter to start. My husband had the gnoochi with gongonzola special and I had the meat ravioli. Both were fresh and tasty. We shared the house red 750 ml and finished with Lemoncellos. Staff were very friendly and attentive. It is... More

I have a co-worker who grew up in Lucca, so when I visited Florence, he insisted that I make a day trip there, and recommended this Trattoria to visit. He specifically recommended the zuppa di farro, the traditional grain from that area. I arrived there for an early lunch, and ordered the zuppa. I think the server thought I was... More

Do you like daylight at night and mediocre food this is the place for you. Lucca is full of great restaurants, choose something else.

Great food with a good choice of more local food rather than a standard menu. Particularly helpful waitress. Open and airy restaurant and we saw lots of locals come in an eat as well as us tourists. This is not a pretentious restaurant but somewhere to return to when you want a nice restaurant with good food. It felt under... More

The food is great, traditional and home cooked style (not haut cuisine, but honest Toscan food). Try antipasta misto for diferrent treats. I specially liked the salsice fagioli, would go back just for that! Service is friendly, menu is explained in Italian and a little English.

We stumbled upon this nice traditional restaurant after walking on the city wall. We were there for a late lunch. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, especially the owner was lovely. We both had a pasta. Although very simple, the taste was great and very cheap.

The food here seemed to be a mixture of Tuscan dishes and the usual Italian restaurant fare. It was well enough cooked and generally quite tasty but rather unimaginative in content and presentation. It was a bit 'plonked on the plate'! Considering it is well off the beaten track as regards passing trade - you wouldn't be too likely to... More

We ate here 3 years ago and loved it, full of locals and great daily specials . We have a mixed starter and then pork ribs with olives and steak with a cream and green peppercorn sauce. Water and 1/2 litre of house wine a salad and some amazing sage potatoes and we were full. Less than 50 euros for... More
