Had a wonderful time.

Great food, ambience and service. The home made ravioli in lemon sauce was to die for. The staff all stood in line and greeted us..Bueno sera!

Very friendly staff, gorgeous food and great wine list. This restaurant came highly recommended by a family friend who had visited, it did not disappoint. The food was delicious & the steak was cooked to perfection. We decided to start with the waiters recommendations which was the spinach & ricotta ravioli, simply sensational! We will definitely be back on our... More

Wonderful eating experience with my daughter with beef fillet, fine wine and a most personable waiter staff. This restaurant has a price tag to match the fine quality of beef, wine and service.

This place is absolutely sensational. The underground restaurant has been around since 1886 and has to be the best restaurant I've been to in Italy. A must have is the classic Florentine Steak. I have never had withdrawals from a meal before but I can't stop thinking about this steak. I want to eat here every night. The service is... More

We have eaten in this restaurant many times, but this was the best. We had 10 people and were given a private room at no up charge. Food was over the top delicious. We had everything from fish to beef and pasta - covered it all and our plates were empty at the end.

We have found this place through the recommendation of a local friend and it had everything we would want in a local restaurant. It is located in the heart of the city and it has a lovely architecture that takes you in the depths of the old restaurant. We had a warm welcome, great service and wonderful local dishes. I... Managed to get a table after three days of trying and the food was well worth it. We used to see long queues outside the restaurant in the evenings. The ambience is great, down a flight of stairs and the place is huge. None of the dishes disappointed and I only wish I could eat more if I had a... More

I honestly have no idea why this place was recommended to us. It's a tourist trap. 40 euros for a thick, bland and tasteless "Steak Florentine" that the waiter offers to you in a bullying manner as either "rare or mid rare". I happen to take mine mid-rare, and I believe that is desirable in a finely cooked piece of... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
