Our hotel recommended this restaurant as it is very close to the Piazza Santa Maria Novella. The decor was simple but charming and the service and food were excellent. Very authentic Tuscan food and we will definitely return again when we are next in Florence.

Wandering around Firenze we stumbled across Buca Mario. We are regulars at Buca Lapi so we thought we'd give it a try. Very warm welcome and a very informative sommelier who recommended an excellent red. Our waiter "Aldo" was a star ! Full of chat. The ambience of the restaurant is lively and welcoming. The menu is very traditional Tuscan... More

Was recommended this place by the conciege at the four seasons. Great choice. I was a little concerend when I saw the entrance but it opens up nicely. Had the florence steak which was exceptionally well done. Also the pappardelle - which was truly one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had. I see others call this place... More

The experience was bad from the beginning: 1. Our waiter forgot the appetizer we ordered. I pointed to it on the menu, he repeated it. Later when it didn't come he offered to bring it *after* our entrees. Then, instead of apologizing, he said his English wasn't good and he misunderstood us (even though he brought no appetizer in its... More

Suggested by my Hotel concierge to try it. I came early at 7pm without a reservation and the lady got me a great spot. The waiters are so attentive to their guests, the best I have seen so far. I only wanted to try the Florentine steak, was suggested a beautiful Chianti red wine to go with it and dessert... More

We were recommended by our hotel staff when we asked where to go for dinner on our first night in Florence. I'm a huge fan of good steaks and I pride myself as a big eater but the famous Florentine steak put me off due to its size and it was too tough for me. So beware - make sure... More

Recommended by our hotel, we got in right away with a same day reservation. Aldo was our waiter and he rally loves his job. He sang and he asked us to trust him in his suggestions and he was right. The Antinori Chianti was so good we had 2 bottles, didn't seem so good the next morning when I missed... More

recommended by a friend who used to live in Florence for the best steaks - otherwise would of never spotted or stopped by as in a cellar on a corner. Really good bustling atmosphere and all teh waiters were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Had the T-bone and was not disappointed -so much meat. Good wine selection and then a good... More

Buco Mario was one of the restaurants recommended by our hotel and I am glad we went there. The food is good but it is the atmosphere , character and the friendly staff that really make this restaurant. We had 8 nights in Italy and this was the best night out we had. Do yourself a favour and visit Buco Mario.

In Florence over the August vacation this was the fifth restaurant we had a chance to try. We talked to the hotel staff and they recommended Buca Mario for the Florentine steak. The restaurant is near Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is an underground maze of rooms most of which was a wine cellar (and some still is). Buca... More
