Our favorite restaurant in Florence. The Florentine steak is unsurpassed. The deserts are also excellent. We regret we did not eat here twice on our trip.

The food was very tasty, I had a steak stew with chianti and my partner had ham and cheese pasta dish which was equally as tasty. The service was excellent with us actually. I've read a few of the reviews on this restaurant and maybe we were lucky, but we loved it. The restaurant itself was clean, the staff were... More

The best bistecca fiorentina we had ever had. Actually the best meat in the whole Tuscany area, well done!

First of all, if you're going to spend time in Tuscany and you love steaks then know that Tuscan meat is not the same as Texas steaks or even that of most American steaks. When I got to Florence I've been in Italy for 2 wks on my honeymoon with no real meat to speak of. Just lots of pasta.... More

The menu was entirely in Italian with more unfamiliar words than usual. They found someone who worked in the kitchen to come out and translate. The food was excellent! Different from the pasta/pizza places we'd seen so much of. It seemed like a neighborhood favorite.

After seeing Andrew Zimmern's Florence episode , we were not going to miss dinner here. The restaurant is quaintly decorated but the meat is front and center. I can't speak to the price as we didn't look for meat anywhere else, but the meal was way cheaper than any steak restaurant in the U.S. We thought service was fantastic. Our... More

Ok.. So I start by saying that the bistecca a la fiorentina was ok. 1200 G for 60 € is not that expensive but half of it was fat and half was bone. But it was a nice meat. Everything else was disgusting! And I'm not kidding. The service was one of the worse that I have had in my... More

During the past few years I've been dining here several times. Unfortunately have to say that the quality of food and service as well are slightly decreasing. Happened to get a tasty T-bone steak with a cold hearth that frankly speaking disappointed me. The location is not in downtown Florence but anyway is a good place to go. Hope the... More

Authentic food and atmosphere at this iconic cuisine institution. Amazing Reviews by every travel magazine and newspaper, which you can read on the walls. Experience Tuscany in Florence. Very good food. We had 3 generations dining and the food exceeded all of our expectations at a very good price point. It was mushroom season and we ordered a dish with... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
