Went Back Everyday

We were in Florence three days. We had Gelato here in our first night and went back every day thereafter. By far the best Gelato we ate while in Italy.

Having eaten gelato every day while I was in Italy, when I say this is the best, it is the BEST! Our tour guide, who is a native of the area, recommended that we try it out. The prices were reasonable, compared to other gelato establishments in Florence. It was clean, and I liked that the staff wore uniforms to... More

Disregarding the softness of the gelato, this artisan is perfect. The flavours were intense, creamy, as well as fluffy. Despite the fact that it was a little too soft this gelato was so flavourful it was still amazing. The chocolate-mint was superb. The cherry had bits of cherry. The kiwi resembled eating the fruit. This local place is near the... More

I go here at least once a weak. The ice cream is delicious!! Not over the top, as you see in many gelateria’s in the center. The ice cream is very tasteful and fresh. The price quality is really good. You pay 2/3 euro for a normal to big ice cream in either cup or horn. They also have many... More

In my last trip to Italy I went with my friends to this place cause they told me it was the best ice cream in whole Italy, and they didnt lie!!! It was an orgasm of taste. I have to come back soon to this place again.

Gelato here tastes really good. The cone itself was amazing, it doesn't taste like host, as what you usually get in most of italian gelateries .I was not really happy about the service, the waitress was not so nice and she didn't give me the receipt. Prices are relatively high, for 3 euro you'll have a tiny tiny gelato (I'm... More

We lived in Florence right on Via dell Statuto and our hostess highly recommended us to visit this gelateria. She said that it serve the best gelato in Florence. I've not had so much time to taste all gelato in that beautiful city, but "Gelateria de' Medici" is a right place to attend if you'll be walking around.

Well, maybe it was bad luck, but to have to repeatedly vomit after this expensive boutique icecream test is unappreciated. Artisanal Icecreams have been a sore spot for centuries in Italy ( & India among other places), where health conditions & government oversight leave much to be desired, and since false labeling (of ingredients) are not sanctioned in Italy, the... I went here by a recommendation from a friend from Florence, and when I tried their gelato, I understood why. Even though it was freezing outside, this gelato warmed my heart. I tried dark chocolate(classic) and CREMA MEDICI which you must try. It was the best crema flavour I had in Italy :) Interior is also lovely and warm, and... More

Perfect after a pizza at "Spera" just a few steps away. Not worth the trip if you're in the centre (go to Mordilatte or Grom), but a great choice if you happen to be in the area.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
