Visit the kitchen!

Such a wonderful night for our party of 10. Service was wonderful, food and wine was what we were expecting....perfect. Make sure to visit the kitchen to thank the staff and get a picture, they welcome it!

Weak menu, unhygienic route to toilets through kitchen and the worst crostini ai feggatini I have ever had in 30 years living on-and-off in Italy. Also completely rare inedible steaks for the US visitors on same 'bench'. No coffee served as they 'had no bar license'.

It had a very authentic feel. It was ecommended to us by a local, and we would definitely go back. We ordered the 1kg steak and butter chicken along with wine. Both items were cooked perfectly.

We came here based on the recommendation of our Airbnb host. It was super close to our apartment and obviously had amazing reviews everywhere. YOU MUST CALL FOR A RESERVATION! There are only two seatings (7:30 and 9:00) so when you come, you start your meal with those around you. You sit at shared tables, which I did not mind.... More

Authentic out of the way spot full of locals. We had the chicken and the artichoke pie that everyone raves about. We also had fresh faggioli in season and tortellini in brudo. Great atmosphere and a meal that haunts us to this day.

We've been here twice and can't wait to go back on our next trip to Florence. The food is outstanding. The artichoke pie is like nothing we've had before and the butter chicken is outstanding. We also had white beans and a radicchio salad that will be remembered for a long time. This tiny restaurant only takes cash and we... More

Didn't look like anything special from the outside, but one of the best meals we've ever had in Italy. Not to be missed, and will be a must-go on every return to Florence.

I always make sure that this place is on my itinerary. The Chicken is simply amazing, the ambience of the restaurant is excellent. If you can sit by the kitchen and watch them cook. If you are going there more than once on a trip, the steak is a fantastic second pick. Love this place!

This place was really highly rated. Overall decent food but not sure why two chicken breast with butter would cost 19 euros. Worth trying once but not a repeat

I can't add much to what has been said before, except to second the advice to make a reservation. The place is small and the quality of the food means that it will always be packed, even in the off season. We had the zuppa al paesano which was a wonderful bean and cabbage soup. I had the chicken breasts... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
