Ice cream without a smile

On an overcast day there are few things to liven up the tastebuds and lift the spirits as well as stunningly good ice cream - and that is exactly what was on offer here. The system is to pay the cashier for the size of tub you want and then take the receipt to the amazingly colourful counter and... read more

My wife and I stopped in here, as recommended by the tour director. I do not remember which 2 flavors I had, nor my wife's 2 flavors, and we shared - both were excellent. I don't know if it was the best we had in Italy, but it certainly ranks up there.

Must go! The most brilliant ice cream we have ever tasted in Italy (including Venice). Delicious. We went back again after trying 2 other Gelato stores. The Coffee, Mango, Coco (coconut), Chocolate etc all amazing home made strong creamy and smooth great flavours!

I had very good memories of Vivoli from previous visits. It's been around since 1932, and they are located in an historic building. I did a taste test against three other highly rated gelaterias, all on cool grey days. Perche No! came out first for me, but Vivoli was a strong second. For me, gelato is a daily requirement in... I have eaten a lot of gelato over the years but Vivoli is by far the best. Absolutely deeeelicious!!! As others have noted, you need to pay for your chosen cup sizes at the cashiers first and then take the ticket to the ice cream counter. Despite its reputation and the rush of customers, we were very impressed by the... More

We tried the gelato here because of it's reputation. It was good but is over-rated. Question of choice I know but we thought that Edouardo's on the Duomo Square tasted more creamy and the service was more friendly

Our wine tour guide recommended this place and it did not disappoint! Absolutely delicious and extremely well priced - we went back multiple times during our stay in Florence.

We had gelato at least once a day while in Italy. We had it from small places, more popular chains, in very local-oriented places and from shops closer to tourist attractions. In short, we love gelato. Vivoli was by far our favorite place. It was a tad more expensive but definitely worth it. Every flavor I tried was to die... More

It's a bit hard to find tucked away on a back street just west of the Santa Croce area but it is worth finding and if you do find it you will see the long lines streaming out of the door...This place has the freshest gelato which they make themselves and i t takes it too...Just make sure you go...
