Dinner out with Italian friends

Our friends in Florence insisted on entertaining us and took us here for dinner. Wonderful unfussy ambience, friendly service, great food and wine. The location on a hill overlooking part of Florence had sweeping views that must be special in daylight,so a great place for lunch too....

A local taxi driver suggested this restaurant; it was where he went for special treats. Good enough we thought for our last night in Florence. Certainly our initial impression - the view down the hillside was a delight. Maybe we should have taken more notice of the table opposite laid up for 20 odd people. Our waiter had a beaming... More

In desperate search for a non-tourist locale in Florence, we drove up the hill to find Omero, featured in the guide Michelin with 2 black knife & forks. All guests on Saturday night were non-Italians. Service, food and wine was mediocre and our mid-high expectation derived from the web-site was not met.

One of our local restaurants that delivers great food every time in a discrete and calm environment. We both had a simple pasta dish and a bottle of Supertuscan, which you really cant go wrong with. Service is discrete and unobtrusive. Well worth the trip out of town to one of the nicest locations around the city.

We stayed in an apartment just up the street from Omero so we frequented the restaurant a few times in our week long stay. We ate their our first night and really enjoyed everything! Yes, it is a bit pricey, but nothing extreme. The Florentine steak was very good, cooked the traditional way- very rare! We had a delicious carbonara... More

Omero is an institution in Florence, best known for the steak it offers a good selection of Florentine specialities and a stunning view (in the summer) over the hills. Located in the posh area of Pian dei Giullari, expect an expensive bill at the end of the meal, but also expect a very good Fiorentina Steak and other dishes. It's... More

My wife was born and works every day in Florence, her family still lives there and they all have a strong sense of tradition: Omero is their (and my) favorite restaurant in Firenze. We had lunch there last time the 1st of January 2015, and, contrarily to what someone inexplicably writes, there were very few tourists (and, I may add,... More

This location is wonderful in every regard, except for the food. I've eaten there twice and was terribly disappointed on each occasion. The quality of the pasta is good but vastly over priced. The chicken dish was terrible with mostly bone and grizzle hidden under deep fried tempura. The waiters are wonderful. Very considerate. Very friendly, helpful and professional. The... More

The place looks very nice but the food is very so so, we ordered veal brain and rabbit. All was cooked in KFC style and in my opinion the have just spoiled good ingredients. They definitely have to change their chief! If you are looking for a good food - avoid this place!

Fantastic food and location. We saw the most beautiful country view of Tuscany on the way to this restaurant. I think is worth the taxi fare. You can go to the piazza Michelangelo for the sunset then go to Omero for dinner.
