Great dinner venue in the city center

Very good. The food en menu were very nice: good flavors and portion sizes. Although a bit overpriced. The manager seemed a bit stressed out and made that visible to the guests. The location and the general atmosphere was fantastic and we had a great evening!

When a restaurant is empty for lunch, and the first question upon arrival is, "Do you have a reservation?" that something might be just a bit amiss. While reviews were mixed, I was interested in the location, the Palazzo dell'Arte dei Giudici e Notai, which had ceiling frescos from the 1300s, and excavations in the basement (visit the bathroom). We... More

After enjoying a truly special night at Alle Murate last February, my girlfriend and I decided to invite her Florentine friends to the restaurant for a birthday dinner celebration. It was 6 of us and we had requested a table upstairs. Despite having called twice to reconfirm the reservation, one just a couple of hours before we were due to... More

I was so jet lagged that the food -- though I'm quite sure wonderful -- was not clearly noted by my enfeebled brain, but I was able to appreciate the extraordinary atmosphere. It's as though you're dining in a private museum -- or sophisticated home -- from the 4th century. Kind and concerned service, a central location, chic, subdued decor,... More

We were very happy to find this restaurant while in Florence. The food was incredible, and service was great for about 90% of our experience. Unfortunately, all of that went south pretty quick once someone more important arrives at this restaurant. Once a couple came in who seemed familiar with the principal that night, we were almost totally ignored. We... More

This is a glamorous restaurant, set in an amazingly, uniquely historic premise, in Italies most beautiful and glamorous city, and they compliment each other. This luxurious establishment impresses immediately you enter. great care has been taken to ensure that the decor and furnishings convey a welcome, as does the lovely young greeter, who showed my party to a suitably quietly... My wife and I met dear friends of ours from Barcelona here for dinner; we live in Chicago. The ambiance of the restaurant is extraordinary, a very modern place literally inserted into an old Roman building where the frescos are still visible because of the sensitive nature of the re-construction. All original walls and ceilings are intact. There is a... More

Went here with a group to celebrate a friends 60th birthday. We booked months in advance and dressed with style expecting a magical evening. We were so disappointed about the quality of the food considering the huge prices and pretentious service. I had the lamb which was small and very hard to chew. Our friends who shared the 90 euro... This is one of Florence's best restaurants. Its modern, elegant design brings the frescos to life. The staff are attentive and professional without any of the typical stuffiness you get in continental European Michelin starred restaurants. The food is a modern interpretation of Tuscan classics with an emphasis on clean flavours (i.e. no confused fusion food). Reasonably priced wine list... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
