delicious and also deliciously overrated

we had a delicious lunch with family and friends her at the end of october. the food is of high quality and the meat is as good as it gets and the plate of artichokes with it are even better. but the prizes are not the one of a traditional trattoria more like a rip off restaurant. I thought to have found a hidden gem when I first entered, the place looked unpretentious but real and had a nice choice of traditional dishes. I was a bit disappointed though: the pasta e fagioli I ordered were lukewarm, the artichokes cold, portions were small, and I had to ask for the bill three times. And it was NOT... More

This is the worst meal in Italy. Small portions of pasta not cooked properly. Food has no taste yet very expensive. Two small pastas plus a fish dish came to over 130 Euros for three of us.

First, they had about a third of what was on the menu for us to choose from so my first choice and my travel companions first and second choices weren't possible. Second, within seconds of ordering our plates were handed out of the small window between kitchen and us; meat dishes lukewarm and side dishes cold enough for one to... More

We ate here several times and found the standard of food and service to be very consistent, a great atmospher linked with unhurried service made for a good evening and one which we repeated a few times. Well worth a visit and hopefully others will enjoy it as well

This establishment should do everybody a favour and close down. They are just taking the mickey out of anyone who goes there. Pasta pre-ccoked and so al dente that I still haven't digested it. It looks as if they haven't spent a penny on the decor since 1960. 2 small plates of pasta with a few porcini mushrooms (pre-cooked and... More

We found Coco Lezzone during our first trip to Florence over 30 years ago and every time of the many times we have come back, we never miss a chance to enjoy the exceptional food that continues to amaze. Some restaurants dazzle with their decor or try to impress with high toned waiters. Coco Lezzone keeps their eye on the... More

It seemed authentic and 'real' with the actual Italian customers and long tables. Well. Some of the food was really good. Some was mediocre. But what tipped me to the negative side was the service and the prices. We ended up paying €110 for 4 people. We had a few small dishes each. And generally it was not worth it.... More

How is it possible that a restaurant can serve ready made pasta in Italy! particularly a place like this once known for its authentic and divine local flavors. At this point may as well eat in Piazza della Signoria! Sad ambience un drinkable table wine not acceptable AVOID

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
