Nice stop for a reasonably priced lunch

Visited for lunch. Enjoyed the Bruschetta Fagioli as an appetizer and then split two pasta offerings as our mains. - The Pappardelle al Cinghiale had broad butter noodles perfect for collecting all the tasty sauce and cinghiale bits. Very tasty. - The Gnocchi 4 Formaggi was soft and pillowy... read more

Our meal was gorgeous. The food fresh. The restaurant was cavernous with wonderful wooden 'candelabras' Our waiter was lovely. The wine was ok, nothing special. The price range was middle range. €70.00 for the two of us.

Had two nice pizza and some beer at reasonable price. Bases really thin and crispy and pretty tasty. Not sure why so many bad reviews.

I had the Quattro Formaggi Pizza it was really good. They have outdoor seating and it is nice sitting outside during the day for lunch.

The menus are in English and we heard no Italian, but we wanted a light snack as we could not get into the restaurant we wanted. My pasta was greasy and a very small proportion. My husband's pizza was okay but not spectacular. He said it had a nice thin crust. The wine was thin. We would not return, but... More

Decently priced food. The spinach and ricotta ravioli with a ragu for starter was nice, and the Tuscan style rabbit for main had a wonderful sauce. The white beans I had for my side were massively overseasoned with rosemary, it was overpowering which was a disappointment. My main complaint was that it was very aimed at tourists- the menu was... Don't be tricked by the trip advisor sticker in the window. My wife and I sat down for a meal one evening and over all we're not that impressed. Our opinion is given below: 2 dollar per person cover: (F) this was not appreciated. We didn't sit outside and it wasn't a busy night. Artichoke crostini: (D) not much flavour,... More

Not great food. Ravioli wasn't very good. Pizzas were not the best, seemed like Pizza Hut with thin crust (extra greasy). Beers were relatively expensive. Also they charge a cover-charge of 2 Euro per person. For a club/bar, I get it, but not for dinner.

We popped in here one night for a quick meal having not tried it before and frankly we should not have bothered. My wife's pizza claimed to have four cheeses, but was just a strange cheesy mess on a thin pizza base, my chicken on rocket leaves was just that with none of the normal balsmic source - the pudding... My wife and I rented an apartment right across the street from this place for a few days on our honey moon last week, and in order to save money we chose to come here cause the pizza menu is posted out side and looked pretty affordable.......little did we know what our tastebuds were about to encounter! We were expecting... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
