We loved the food in this restaurant, everything was beautifully prepared and presented, from the first courses such as tuna tartare, platters of cheese, baked eggplant etc, to the fish we ordered and the desserts. Our waiter was friendly and efficient. Our only gripe was the slightly misleading pricing such as, if you wanted say, sea bass, the price was... More

This restaurant has a great atmosphere that welcomes people of all ages. The food is very good, especially the scorpion fish we ordered, which was exceptional. The pasta my guest ordered was over salted for her taste, although many would have been of this opinion. As for the wine list, I found it to be limited. The food was brought... More

We dined at Il Barreto on the advise of the front desk of our hotel. This was great advice as we had a great meal! The Florentine t-bone was one of the top 5 steaks I have eaten anywhere. The service was very good and the atmosphere was very enjoyable (quiet, elegant, romantic). The meal was expensive, but half of... More

Wonderful food and ambiency. Sea food are the best. Expensive but worth any single euro. Ask for a start with baby octopussy.

The folks in charge seem to favor "regulars"......miserable service, and very expensive, could not offset generally ok but not outstanding food. In addition ,management believes that playing disco and Sinatra music at sonic levels was consistent with fine dining. Really a joke. Stay away, there re better values in Florence. Jack/ New Jersey

I'd passed this restaurant before but they were full the night I wanted to dine. I had lunch there a couple of days later & had the place to myself. Food was exquisite - shavings of ham & parmigiano with tomatoes simply dressed; angel hair pasta with a sauce of tiny clams; beef tartare prepared table side. I'd like to... More

We found it by chance. Small luxury restaurant with the spirit of old times. No crowds, not overbooked. Perfect service, friendly waiters. Really tasty food. Next evening we went again. Again it was perfect.

My friend recommended this restaurant because she travels to Florence 4 times a year (and my friend has GREAT taste!) Yes it's tucked away on a lovely street (via del Parione) but easy to find. The restaurant is intimate with a lovely feeling of being on a boat.. the service is sublime and the menu is diversified enough for everyone.... More

As other reviewers have mentioned. Il Baretto is a bit tucked away (as are all the best places in Florence). We have returned 5 times now over 2 years and have always had great food and have been gently taken by the hand as far as the wine list is concerned, on a wondrous oenological journey. Paolo and his compadres... More

This was by far the best we had in Florence! It is a small, cosy restaurant, and the food is simply exquisite. On the night we were there, amazingly (given the high quality of the food) we were the only diners there, so inveviably service was fantastic. However, it was clear that however bust they were, this standard would have... More
