Heavenly Lampredotto, Trippa & Porchetta

We changed on this food truck on our way to Uffizi. We needed a quick lunch and were wanting to taste the famed lampredotto. It was serendipity. We expected a quick taste & were blown away by the complex flavours. Lampredotto is a must have if you are in Florence, if I go by the one served here... read more

Tucked away behind the Piazza Signoria in the tiny Piazza de Cimatori is this 'barroccio' style eatery serving, and it's an acquired taste, panini with 'trippa' and with 'lampredotto' - Florentine delicacies comprising offal boiled in broth and served with a herb sauce and/or chili sauce. On a winter's day this is the perfect place for a quick and cheap,... More

Whenever I'm back in Florence, this is one of the mainstays for a quick afternoon bite. The Trippa Fiorentina, with green sauce, or the Lampredotto on a crusty Tuscan bread is one of the best lunches I can think of. Most Americans shy away from tripe, but travel is all about new experiences, and I implore you to try this.... More

Right outside of a super market. This supposingly legendary beef tripe sandwich, horrible. Tried two of their signature sandwiches, really soggy, the meat microwaved. Flavour bland and disgusting.

More expensive than even restaurants at Piazza del Duomo or the centre but food quality is quite unstable. The woman vendor: very rude, always looks down on clients. Too many flies around.

I eat tripe so this is not unusual for me but the reviews here are all excellent for this lampredotto. I don't t get it. It is just awful. It smells off. It smells awful. It tastes off. It tastes awful. Even with the spices i can still smell and taste the awfulness. To start with, the tripe is very... More

This is a real way to experience some typical Florentine food. A real gem tucked away near the piazza Della Signoria, it's a little food truck serving delicious paninis. We tried everything, from the Lampradetto (last part of a cow's stomach), to the Bollito (beef neck), and of course the classic Porchetta sandwich. They were all worth it! A sumptuous,... More

The tripes indeed are good. The reason I put only 4 stars is because the tripes are bathing in a good tomato sauce. But then the flavor of tripes is completely covered. Which is very sad.

I never tried lampredotto before, but when I did, I got addicted! I had lampredotto here every day of my stay! The meat was soft and juicy, and they use a great mix of spices which makes it even better. I suggest you to try the spicy option. I strongly suggest you to eat lampredotto here, it is a real... I've been here several months ago because friends of mine told me it was one of the best places where to eat Lampredotto. The experience was terrible...I disliked (for the first time in my life) the Panino con Lampredotto and I was embarrassed because I brought there friends of mine and they were not happy. Maybe it was not cooked... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
