This was our favourite restaurant in Florence! Great authentic food, amazing service, and good prices! We ordered the Gnnochi as well as the Tortellini. Amazing!! 5 stars!!

I visited this restaurant with my cousin whilst we were on holiday, and the food was terrible. Both of our courses, first and main, was salty to the extent that it was inedible. We were disappointed with the experience and both agreed that this was the worst food we had at a restaurant. The staff were friendly enough; however, I... More

We had a wonderful meal at Osteria Il Mostrino, recommended by out hotelier at Hotel Albion and a short walk from the hotel. The food was excellent, and their wine offerings both high quality and reasonable priced. We even ate under the Birth of Venus! Much fun and great food. We would certainly go back there.

Fantastic food, great service, intimate. This restaurant was recommended by locals. It opens earlier than most which is good for tourists especially if you are here in the fall during time change from daylight savings time. Many restaurants are closed on Sunday but this one opens for dinner on Sunday. If you are more than two people try to make... More

This neighborhood family osteria was recommended by our landlord who lived nearby. They put together off-menu antipasti and I shared the Bistecca Alla Fiorentina which was excellent. With dad behind the stove, the kids out front were friendly and engaging. A thoroughly enjoyable meal in an unassuming osteria.

Such delicious food! We arrived in Florence around lunch time. Our hotel suggested that we visit here for lunch. It was so good. I had the large tortellini with pear and pecorino with tomatoes and my sister had the meatballs with mushrooms. Both meals were delicious. Homemade pasta is amazing! We enjoyed the restaurant so much that we back twice... More

My partner had the wild boar papadelle and I had the penne with olives and tomatoes - both were top notch! Highly recommend.

If you're looking for a high end, off-the-charts restaurant, this isn't your place. It's a small, unassuming family restaurant with simple, straightforward and tasty food. The ribolita was excellent. Go there for comforting food in an intimate setting.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
