Reliable

It is surprising and pleasant to find a restaurant like this in so central a location. Good service and very good food. Loved the prosciutto and melon most of all.

We found this little spot on Via delle Terme, only a very short distance from via Por Santa Maria. The food was delicious and the prices may be the best in Florence. Clearly very popular with locals as it was full by 8:30.

We visited this wonderful restaurant based on internet research and we (two adults and a teen) were so delighted that we went back a second time. The service was great and the food was excellent and authentic. Gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce, wild boar pasta, etc.- all excellent, and they have gluten free and vegetarian options. Soups are particularly notable. Well... More

A little gem hidden in the Via delle Terme, wonderful food, very friendly service, great atmosphere, and a very extensive gluten-free menu to boot!

This restaurant was recommended to us by a local who told us the food was very good, the helpings were generous, and the prices were reasonable. He was right! There were many options for lunch ie. First/ Second Course for 12 E or a First Course/ Dessert for 8 E. The Marscapone with Caramel for dessert was to die for.... More

One of the nicest meals that we ate in Florence - a typical family run hosteria with local dishes cooked in 'family' style & such a welcome change from the ubiquitous pizza & pasta establishments that seem to line every street & passageway. Reasonably priced & popular with local Italians so essential to book.

I realize that TA is geared to the Anglo World so I am sometimes suspicious. When I got to my hotel early and told the staff I would be back to check-in after lunch they asked if I needed a recommendation. I said I wanted to try Hostaria Desco. They both complimented me on my choice. Filled with locals many... More

This restaurant was recommended by a local contact of ours - we ate there a couple of times during our visit to Florence. Every time we were impressed by the freshness and quality of the food- this is a real Italian ristorante. The prices were very reasonable and the staff went out of their way to accommodate our 10 month... More

This is a jewel only a couple of minutes off Piazza della Signoria. Fortunately, not many tourists know this place so you get to eat with the locals, florentine food. We shared crostini misti (great mushroom and pate`) and coccole (some fried dough balls with prosciutto and stracchino cheese). We had some local GF pasta (pici) with pesto sauce and... More

Really friendly and welcoming staff, quite a big menu so tricky to decide but we were not disappointed in the lamb dishes we had. Succulent meat, presented well and tasted devine. Sadly we were too full for dessert but I hear they do an amazing Cheesecake

Staying in Uffizi

Neighborhood Profile
Uffizi
Every visitor coming to Florence for the first time will immediately identify with Uffizi. As in past times, passing through Via dei Calzaiuoli, you can reach the city center, the Florence that everybody dreams of. In just a few steps, visitors can experience the rare beauty of the capital of the Renaissance. walking delighted across Palazzo Vecchio and overlooking Piazza della Signoria, up to the Loggia of the Uffizi where it is possible to fully taste the talent of the best artists who animated Florence over the centuries. When the sun goes down, there’s nothing better than a walk along the river Arno up to the ancient bridge, Ponte Vecchio. It is full of jewels and decorated by the colors captured in postcards.
