"La Cucina del Garga" arrived on the Florence restaurant scene when Chef Alessandro Gargani returned from an 8 year run as Executive Chef in New York City's famous "Mezzogiorno Restaurant" in SOHO. It is there that he practiced his craft, honed his recipes and started his family. From an early age, his parents Sharon Oddson and Giuliano Gargani AKA "Il Garga" had instilled in him their passion for food and art. In 2010, he returned to his hometown to continue the family tradition born at The Trattoria in Via del Moro and then brought here to Via San Zanobi. The restaurant is an art gallery as well as showcase where talented local artists have the opportunity to show their work and customers can purchase paintings or sculptures to enrich their own private collections.

Garga is always a convivial experience. Its original location was quite wild, famous for it's crazy art and equally friendly and outgoing owner. One of the first experiences here, I took my parents who were visiting with me and he treated my mother like she was the Queen of England. To this... read more

We had been recommended to this restaurant by our hotel. The restaurant opens at 7.30pm and although we had not booked we were shown directly to a table. Arriving later you may not be so lucky. The atmosphere appears informal with a variety of artworks displayed - you are provided with pens and are invited to draw on the paper... More

I am completely in love with this place! Chef Alessandro and THE matriarch, Mamma Chef Sharon, are AMAZING! One lovely day as I had the rare opportunity to seat down in my living room and try to find something to watch on TV, I happened to turn my TV on Foodnetwork and watch Guy Fiore do a special on Florence,... We were looking for this particular restaurant as we heard great references about it. You deffinitely need a reservation in advance as it was fully booked. We did not find anything what could be consider as disturbing. Service, food, atmosphere everything was excellent. Really worth it. Menu is not extremely rich, what just prove, that sometimes less is more. I... More
