Description: "La Cucina del Garga" arrived on the Florence restaurant scene...
"La Cucina del Garga" arrived on the Florence restaurant scene when Chef Alessandro Gargani returned from an 8 year run as Executive Chef in New York City's famous "Mezzogiorno Restaurant" in SOHO. It is there that he practiced his craft, honed his recipes and started his family. From an early age, his parents Sharon Oddson and Giuliano Gargani AKA "Il Garga" had instilled in him their passion for food and art. In 2010, he returned to his hometown to continue the family tradition born at The Trattoria in Via del Moro and then brought here to Via San Zanobi.
The restaurant is an art gallery as well as showcase where talented local artists have the opportunity to show their work and customers can purchase paintings or sculptures to enrich their own private collections.

Warm welcome, great meal

We were happy to stop at la cucina deal garga again when visiting Florence after a few years away. The restaurant is a bit off the beaten path but don't let that deter you - it is worth a visit. I personally know the restaurant for a while and I have to admit that the food was even better than last time, the owner always try to improve his work and that's a amazing thing counting that other restaurants are getting worse.

A large restaurant and when we visited more or less empty on a Friday evening. Lots of art work displayed and pens available to create your own. We found the menu limited and not to our taste. When I asked the price of the specials I was told it was more or less the same as everything else. The steak... More

Enjoyed the prosecco provided by this restaurant and enjoyed the complimentary fried polenta even more. Really tasty. The menu is in the smaller side. I had pistachio pesto which was good not great, had wished I had chosen the citrus pasta. Fun decor.

You enter the restaurant and they greet you with a complimentary glass of Presecco. While we were looking over the menu, they brought us a fried polenta and cheese appetizer that set the tone for the rest of the meal. Delicious! The menu is small but has choices for all tastes. Everything we tried was perfection.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. The dishes were inventive and so tasty. Pasta was exquisite. I had lamb chops and my husband had steak. Both meals were presented beautifully and tasted devine. Don't miss this restaurant in Florence.

I must have offended the server somehow. Our first dishes arrived promptly, but the second plates were held at the pass for about 1/2 hour. We finally got them when we asked. The appetizers were interesting, but the pasta and second dishes were below par. It is hard to get a bad meal in an Italian restaurant in Italy. That... More

We had a great experience two years ago, and brought our college aged student along this time. Food was still excellent, with a number of special touches. Good, reasonable wine recommendations, Mama's cheesecake was sinful. Service was good and friendly, but they lost track on occasion - but restaurant was packed on this visit, as compared to the luxury of... More

The decor was really inviting (cute artwork in an ancient building). The service was outstanding and the staff was very friendly. Outstanding dinner! I would highly recommend this place.
