Da Ginone was also recommended by our b&B as a good local place to eat. On our first night we were welcomed warmly and the waiter patiently explained the menu. I had Osso Bucco and SWMBO had spinach a ricotta ravioli with a truffle sauce. A glass or two of house wine each went down well. The hospitality and the... More

We visited after searching for restaurants close to our apartment and crossed our fingers that they would have a table available. Luckily we nabbed the last table. The waiter was very apologetic that it was so close to the door, but we didn't mind as it was a warm evening. Service was warm and friendly. We had the caprese salad,... More

Da Ginone was recommended by our hotel and what an excellent recommendation. The staff were genuinely welcoming, and patient, explaining the specials and differences to the main menu dishes. I plumped for the beef in red wine sauce, peppercorns with polenta. Wow! I scrounged a couple of my wifes roast potatoes with rosemary and that alone decided that we would... More

We came here on a recommendation and a check of the reviews on Tripadvisor. If you are looking for fast service, slick waiters and something upscale, look elsewhere. If you want local flavor, a slow dinner and chance to relax, then you will be fine here. The food is very reasonable for Florence and the menu pretty typical for the... More

Dropped in here one evening without a reservation and the owner said if we could wait 10 minutes that he would have a table. Had a very good meal here of pappardelle with pieces of cinghiagli (sometimes you get it like hamburger) so that made it even more special. Also had risotto with asparagus - very good and portions for... More

We ate here lunch on our first day in Firenze. The food is good and the service is excellent. We ordered the pasta with broccoli, which was too spicy, and they offered to replace it immediately.

Found this restaurant on TripAdvisor near our hotel. You may miss it if you weren't looking for it. We didn't have reservations but they were able to accommodate us. By the time we left all tables were filled. The staff was able to translate the specials for us. My partner and I ordered 2 courses and were blown away. The... More

This is just a bit outside the center but very much worth a cab ride. The usual favorites but done beautifully. Naturally this restaurant attracts a local clientele as well as cost conscious but knowledgeable foreign tourists or ex-pat locals. My wife and I went there with Florentine friends and not only enjoyed the first pressings if the new olive... More

Had the wide noodles with wild boar sauce and it was excellent. Bruschetta starter was mediocre however. Service was friendly and attentive. Chocolate cake desert was warm and good.

Da Ginone is a place we have walked by for years like fools as we trudged from Porta Romana to the center. Last year we decided to try it with a large group and popped in for a reservation. The head waiter, Fausto, was so wonderfully helpful and enthusiastic that we knew right away we had messed up by not... More
