If you want to get away from the numerous tourists in Florence, walk along the Arno to the Vespucci bridge. Sabatino's Trattoria is a good place to find local Italians gathering for their evening meal in a no frills dining room. Family owned with great prices.

Sabatino is surrounded by some very good, and expensive, Florentine restaurants, but this little gem holds it's own just fine. If you're looking for a good meal at an excellent price (the cheapest meal we had in all of Tuscany) this little place, tucked into a corner by one of the old doors into the city, is the place to... This trattoria is just outside( next to ) the wall of the old town. Look at a map. It would be the best value and the most delicious food you could have in a homely friendly trattoria. We were recommended by our accomodation and were so happy we went two nights in a row and had to stop ourselves going... More

Our professor took us here for a quick and cheap lunch. And that was exactly what we got. (And there were a LOT of locals also) The food was smaller portion, but the values match the price. The taste was a bit bland comparing to other places I have experienced in Florence but it wasnt bad. Longing to find out... More

Spaghetti with pesto and white wine made for a nice lunch which came incredibly fast, but I found the service lacking. Perhaps it was an off day. Perhaps I'd go again, if I had more time. Perhaps the waiter could've said the price difference from a glass to 1/4 litre of wine was minimal. Perhaps the waiter could've spoken slower... More

This is one of the most inexpensive restaurants in Florence. It is tucked away in the San Frediano neighborhood . It was recommended by an Italian friend because it was like neighborhood restaurants 25 years ago. For an early lunch we had pasta with house ragu, bacala livorno, a salad, two (big) glasses of wine, acqua minerale for about 14... More

Was looking forward to simple delicious food after reading the reviews but was sadly disappointed. The Panzanella I had was ok my friends Spaghetti Pomodoro was reminiscent in flavour of heinz tinned sauce not unpleasant but far from authentic ....... We had chosen roast pork chop with rosemary, roast chicken, cabbage and roast potatoes as mains...... Pork chop seemed as... More

This place is a little out of the typical tourist areas, but totally worth a visit. It's a family-run establishment with mostly locals (giant groups singing happy birthday or other songs throughout dinner). The menu was all in Italian, but our waiter (the owner's son, I think) helped explain the options. It wasn't fancy, but it felt traditional and the... More

I'm sure that every reviewer here stumbles occasionally upon a local gem that you would prefer to stay that way fearing that your review might endanger just that. Not because you want to keep it selfishly for yourself, but because you worry that your fellow travellers who would come in swarms on your recommendation would possibly spoil what's special about...
