Our favorite gelato in Florence

This gelato was delicious. And, not as expensive as the gelateries near the tourist attractions. It is a little out of the way but well worth the walk.

I know it says we visited in 2014 but it actually nearly four years since my wife and I visited Florence and to this day all we can talk about is Michaelangelo's David, climbing the Duomo, and having gelato at La Carraia. And not necessarily in that order! Why review it now? Because we were speaking with someone else who... More

This gelataria is quite easy to locate on the Oltarno side of the river just over the bridge. It isn't a big place but we had a feeling it would be good when we saw people queueing up for the gelato! There were several flavours, I tried tiramasu, fondant chocolate (dark chocolate) and mixed fruit, all of which were to... More

Best gelato I've tasted anywhere in Italy or elsewhere - particularly the Ricotta + Pear. It's where the locals go for their gelato and that's proof enough.

Not too far from the Piazza Santa Croce, we found ourselves there twice a day. My husband thinks of himself as an ice cream expert and could not get enough. We must have tried every flavor over the course of a few days and all were fresh, vibrant and fantastic.

Simple gelataria where you form an orderly cue, pick your size of cone or cup, what flavours, pay at the till and off you go. Their display is a feast for the eyes. So many colours, so many flavours, so little time to try them all. We were a group of 4 adults, so we tried some of the creamy... More

Some of the best ice-cream I had in the entirety of Italy (after extensive testing!). Go for their own special flavours (they have "Carraia" in the name. Truly excellent.
