Lunch was very good

First stop in Florence and we found this cafe. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. Our table was outside and the view of the church across the river was perfect. I would recommend this if you are visiting in Florence.

Amazing views over the river and the best service, the perfect lunch stop whilst wandering the streets of Florence. A bit down the river from the main centre but worth the walk. Ordered two drinks and were presented with an amazing array of free snacks including sliced pizza bites. Amazing generous portions, delicious drinks and great service, highly recommended to... More

We were shattered walking around and came across here this cafe and took a gamble and went in. We had a drink and then decided to have something to eat. Our waiter was very friendly and professional. We sat outside which was nice but the building next door was getting some work done on it and some water fell on... More

We had two pizzas, and felt Ripped off. It tasted ok, but one of the two was luke warm. Expensive beer and food for what you get. Don't bother coming here.

Excellent food. The pizza is cooked perfectly and tastes just as good. The service is quick and organized. The portions are a great price. The armosphere is quiet and comfortable. The staff are incredibley friendly and good. Definitely a place to check out while you're here!

The mixed starter was quite good. The lasagne was good and the omelette was quite tasty. A good afternoon meal sitting in the street outdoor seating but not on the side of the river. Good food attentive service. Good simple place to eat in between lunch and apertivo.

We stopped here on the way into Florence centre for some lunch. Would recommend it for a nice food stop with kids. We had pasta and pizzas and all good. Nicely decorated place with friendly staff who spoke English. Some people seem to think a bit expensive but to be honest for lunch for 4 of us I thought it... More

This is a straightforward cafe. It was close to our hotel and provided a much needed respite from 3 hour multi course meals. Pricing for dinner was very reasonable. A pizza, pasta and bottle of water for 16 euros. The pizza was average, the pasta was good, service was pleasant. There are outdoor and indoor tables and the servers speak... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
