Useful locally for a relatively cheap meal

This was close to our hotel or we might not have tried it as it was not very preposessing really, looked more like a takeaway. However we enjoyed our typical tourist meal here, possibly because we did not have high expectations. They have a few tables upstairs which was where we went. The waiting... read more

Enjoyed having something other than pizza or pasta for a change! Good value - HUGE kebabs, can be cut in two upon request, and truly big enough to share. Yummy meat & toppings, add a coke & you still have money left for gelatto.

My wife and I were walking back to our hotel later in the evening. It seemed open and inviting, so we stopped in just to have a beer or two. Ended up staying until it closed. The personnel was friendly and there were two locals standing at the counter having a drink. We did not have any food. Typcially, this... More

Do not go here! My wife and I researched a Kebab restaurant in Florence on TripAdvisor and discovered Istanbul Kebab (apparently renamed to "Barbecue Cafe") after seeing one positive review. The atmosphere seemed pleasant when we first walked in. Soon after we ordered our food, the owner switched the channel to play extremely inappropriate music videos. The food we were... More

I love kebab. I've been traveling around Europe for about 4 months (in over 15 countries). Everywhere I go, I get a kebab. Always. Instanbul Kebab has THE BEST KEBAB I've tasted in all of Europe. They have fresh, delicious eggplant, crunchy cabbage, hot meat shavings, and an amazing garlic sauce. You can add potatoes, onions, zucchini and all sorts... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
