Revisited here for the 3rd time and although the food was good and we all enjoyed most of our meals there seemed to something lacking this time. Our first visit a few years ago was a real pleasure with attentive staff and a great atmosphere. Everyone had fun and food wise the pasta was possibly the best we have ever... More

Our family of four stopped in for lunch on the way to the Accademia and we did not expect much because the location felt touristy. But once inside, the lovely ambiance and professional wait staff relaxed us and we settled in for what turned out to be a delicious, memorable lunch. The selection of wines bt the glass was good--I... More

This restaurant is tucked away behind the bus stop in San Marco plazza. We got a tip from our hotel staff about this place and decided to try. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic, s great place to enjoy dinner, as we did, after a full day of exploring Florence. The service was good and the food was delicious, I... More

We would highly recommend this restaurant. We found the Ristorante Accademia through our Hotel Giglio recommendation. The food including the salads, antipasti, primi and secondi are excellent. Traveling with kids we found wonderful food for us and the girls. We went back twice, enough said right! The staff was super friendly and dealing with a very packed restaurant they made... More

Its hard to find as good a bargain as this in Florence AND a fabulous meal. You get a 4 dish menu with wines to go with them and a prosecco to start with. Our host was very friendly and service was fast and knowledgeable. We even got to change a wine to another because we had already tasted it.... More

Really enjoyed the pre-fix meal (1- meat and cheese platter 2- choice of pasta dish 3- Biffsticca). The Florentina Biffsticca was delicious, served rare, but they are willing to cook a little more upon request. Good wine list. Service was great and people very friendly.

After a long day of walking around Florence, my husband and I were looking for a reasonably-priced restaurant near our hotel (Four Seasons). We found the Ristorante Accademia, which was only about a five-minute walk away, and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were incredibly friendly - it felt like a family-owned restaurant. My husband had a salami/meat plate as... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
