Good solid experience

Wonderful food, service a bit slow, but worth the wait. Nice atmosphere, and better wine. Will visit again. Great to find a place like this when most of the countries' establishments seem to be out to nail tourists...good honest food, and wine.

This place in next to our apartment, so we wandered in here attracted by the al fresco dinning space on the foot path. The waiters were fantastic, asking us many questions about what we prefer to eat. They were very attentive and the meals came all at the same time. The pasta is house made, we had a mixed seafood... We went to La Madia on our first night in Florence and we enjoyed it so much that we went back on our last night there. The first night we had rabbit and fish and the second time we had the T bone steak between us. Everything was superbly cooked and served with great enthusiasm and warmth. The head waiter... More

Greta wine and food. Excellent English speaking staff. I had a wild boar pasta dish which was really good. No wild taste to the meat. the wine paired well with the food. They gave us a small digestif and biscotti. The biscotti was not like the typical hard cookie but was a little softer and melted in your mouth.

I had this theory in Italy that the restaurants with red and white checkered table cloths were tourist traps in one way or another. We were hungry and roaming the streets when we decided to stop here. It certainly looked nice on the outside. Unfortunately, in a city where we found wonderful food and restaurants this one did not hold... More

This place is highly recommended for extensive and interesting menu, delicious meals and highly professional unobtrusive service. For a couple, we had two starters, then three (!) mains, a small bottle of excellent Chianti Classico and two coffees that all in all came to 83 euros. Add to that a couple of welcome toasts and farewell pastries, all on the... More

This was a wonderful typical Tuscan restaurant. The food, service and prices were so good that we ate here all 3 nights we were in Florence.

While on the Italy trip, we stayed very close to this place in Florence and for one of the meals went to Trattoria La Madia. The service was warm, friendly and since there was langauge barrier with the staff knowing limited english and we not knowing italian at all, every body went out of their way to help us understand... Honestly, this was the best meal we had during our visit to Firenze. I could eat that lasagna every meal!
