The line was long for dinner, the food average, the service was efficient, but the view/setting was beautiful. We started with bruschetta and a nice local red wine (we spent the afternoon at that winery so it tied the day together well). My husband had the pizza with hot sausage (pepperoni) and I had a good salad with tuna. The... More

I ate twice at this restaurant once for breakfast and then for dinner on my last night. Breakfast - I had a ham omelette which was nice. Dinner - My partner I think got the better end of the deal. He ordered the stuffed pizza balls for a starter and the steak - he said his food was excellent. I... More

We stayed at a hotel on the square, and while waiting for our check-in, we decided to take in the sights and sounds of the square. The outside location could not be beat! We split a pizza which was good, but nothing extraordinary. So, if you are seeking an extraordinary gastronomic experience, I would keep looking. If if you are... More

There was nothing wrong with our meal or the service - everything was OK. The entire experience was very average, though. The food is slightly overpriced for its plainness - you can easily get more interesting and tasty dishes elsewhere for the same price. No particular reason to avoid it, but nothing particular to recommend it either.

We are here twice on our short trip in Florence, both times we loved it! Order the mini pizzas for entree, you won't be disappointed!

During our stay in Florence (June 2014) we have dinner twice in the restaurant Il Grillo. We chose this restaurant for its terrace rather than for the menu. Therefore we took place on the terrace with limited expectations. However the pizza that we ate the first night was of a very good quality. The meals we ate the second night... More

Unlike its neighbours, grillo does not charge cover charge on their dishes. We ordered the marinara pizza and after seeing the pizzas on the surrounding tables, requested for it to be a bit thinner. This request was met and we added fungi to the pizza as well, the pizza was good and filling, but nothing special for Italy. The grilled... More

Friendly welcome and VERY generous meal sizes. The calzone has to be seen to be believed and a bit worrying if you've orfered sides! Despite ordering drinks as well as desserts the cost was not excessive.
