I chose it based on TripAdvisor reviews and I did not regretted. The personal was friendly and the food was great. I was for about 3 or 4 times (dinner) and everything was great.

We were informed in the hotel that this is one of the best restaurants in Florence to eat meat. When we came there it was really hard to explain on english what we wanted. So I didn't get medium roasted steak. Moreover, we went to a cheaper restaurant in Siena, and taste of meat there was way better.

Although TripAdvisor said this restaurant was £££ , we didn't find it expensive. The service was good and the food really delicious. We will be back.

It was my last night in Florence, I looked for a orginal and genuine cena fiorentina and I found this cozy Resturant. I ordered blue tagliata and crostini with pate' which were have it been the most tasty food that I have ever tasted. The owner was so kind and helpful every moments and she showed a such love for... Very average place as far as food, ambiance, wine and service. We only had a simple pasta, salat, and fish, but it took long time to come and quality was average. Place is full of tourists so that's not the best sign to me. It's ok for quick dinner but nothing to write home about. Will not come back thought

We were greated in a friendly manner and welcomed in. The trip advisor on the outside of the place stated they had won excellence for several years on trip advisor so we figured it must be really good. well....there was a hair in my pasta and they tried to overcharge us on the check by 4 euros. we speak italian... We recently visited Florence and visited this restaurant on our first night. The food was superb and perfectly cooked. The service was excellent as well. We stayed in Florence for three nights and we enjoyed Mangiafuoco so much we went back on our last night. We were remembered and welcomed back. Great food, wonderful staff.

We happened across this little beauty and had a delicious authentic Italian meal. Daniella the hostess told us "it was simple family fare" - It was homemade and fresh. Would highly recommend if you enjoy good food, great service, comfortable and relaxed ambience and a place away from the tourist madness that is central Florence. Daniella described each dish we... We arrived in Florence too late for lunch at the restaurant we had chosen, and the concierge at our hotel recommended this one, close by. There were 5 of us, and we each had an excellent meal of local specialties, served by a very attentive waitress who took the time to explain each unfamiliar dish. The atmosphere was that of... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
