The Second Choice for the Evening was First Rate

We had taken the "Florence for Foodies" guided tour earlier in the day and we were looking for their top-recommended wine bar eatery. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts including maps and asking other businesses, we were unable to find our first choice. We had actually asked Caffe Pitti for... read more

We went there on our last night in Florence and having had an excellent meal the night before, we were hoping that this restaurant would be as good. We were very surprised by the great quality of food, the knowledgeable waiters. Eldo and Mahmoud and wonderful atmosphere. The truffle dishes are well worth having, very fresh and tasty and the... We had dinner here. The food was OK but not outstanding. Although there were few customers, the service was poor. Waiters were friendly, but rushed the presentation of the dishes, and didn't seem to worry about clearing away before serving the next course. A little training could raise standards enormously, as the staff seemed willing and helpful.

the food was below average. the truffle rissoto was a scam for the price they charge. The food took forever and the waiters were completely unappologetic. Avoid even if you were dying of hunger... over rated scam!

Whilst looking for another restaurant, we accidentally discovered this place the night before and Paolo greeted us and encouraged us to come back, so we did. The food was incredible!! Hubby had a "cutted Florentine steak" that was cooked to perfection. I had Osso Bucco that was the best I've ever had. I had a gnocchi with shrimps and zuchinni... More

I am thinking of giving up meals in restaurants for New Year's Eve entirely. No matter how great the reviews and how recommended the place is, we just end up with whatever on the plate, even in places we had tested beforehand (We hadn't visited this one, though, just used the recommendation). Lovely location, very good service staff, bland and... More

I have had better truffle dishes in some nicer and cheaper restaurants in Florence. For being in front of pitti palace, it is crowded but very touristic. The waiters try to be nice.

On a cold winter evening in Florence, with hardly a soul in sight, we stumbled across Ristorante Pitti, directly opposite the Palazzo Pitti. Fed up with bland spaghetti with tomato sauce, veal Milanese and pizza margherita which seems to be the only offerings of reasonable price on Italian menus, this restaurant was a real find and we would heartily recommend... We found Caffe Pitti while strolling through Oltrarno and were very pleasently surprised by amazing food and great service for a very reasonable price! We ordered pork milanesa (2 for 3 as recommended by the waiter as the portion was huge!), the meat was delicious. Great Chianti wine recommended as well, and really tasty cheese cake. Overall very recommendable :)

We stumbled across this place when we couldn't get a table at Pitti e Gola. It was a nice surprise and the food was delicious. The wine recommended by the waiter was also 5 star. Would've rated it higher but the service dropped away at the end when some young girls came in and distracted the male staff (ha!) and... More
