Good food and affordable

Best service and good food. I called the restaurant at 23:35 hrs and they kept the restaurant open for two of us till 12:45 hrs. I liked this gesture. Coming to the food, the food was good and staff was friendly. The ambience is cosy and you will surely have the feel of India.

Service is fast, Ambience is good but the taste( Chicken tikka masala, karahi gosht ) was really disappointing and neither did it meet Bombay standards. It's comparatively expensive to nearby Indian restaurants. Garlic/butter naan and Jeera rice were Ok.

When holidaying in Florence, I picked this place to celebrate my wife's birthday based on its proximity to Central Florence. It was a close walking distance from our hotel. This is a cozy little place with good Indian food and friendly people. When I discreetly requested them for a birthday cake, they improvised with a coconut cake and Gulab Jamoon... More

Yummy Indian food! Service is quick with friendly staff. Reasonable prices, actually cheap compared to other Indian restaurants in Italy.

Very bad. Try to avoid. We ordered in food. The food wasn't good. Portions are quite small. We wanted to have something sweet. So we went to this place to pick up some Gulab jamuns. These turned out to be heated up stale , almost to the extent that it was sour.

We visited Salaam Bombay for dinner on 07.06.15. The experience was very dissapointing. We had to wait for over and hour for food to be served only partially. Breads were served cold. Paneer tasted horrible and had to be returned. The overall food lacked flavor and quality. Management was extremely rude and insensitive. Overall it was a very forgettable evening.... More

The food was delicate yet flavoursome, offering a nice balance of spices. Desserts are a must: served in copper cups, they are creamy, a nice change from the usual overly sugary desserts you get in other restaurants, and definitely one of the reasons why we'll be going back. Excellent service.

After 4 days of pizza margherita and pastas we were craving for some indian food so we did a Google search for restaurants near Florence train station and discovered Salam Bombay. It's at walking distance from the station and they serve nice punjabi dishes. The owner expedited our order because we had to catch a shuttle. Definitely worth a visit... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
