After living in Florence and studying food and wine at Apicius International school of hospitality .. I can honestly say the best italian food in Florence I have ever had. A wonderful experience, the owner makes you feel like family. Him and his wife both work there and will cater to your every need! The meal is absolutely beautiful and... More

We tried Il Profeta last night on our tourguide's recommendation (after checking Tripadvisor, of course). It is most definitely a place where you will find mostly tourists, and they know how to make you feel welcome. The restaurant gave us bruschetta as a starter, and to taste their "award winning" olive oil. It was quite good, and a ni eway... More

Enjoyable experience, struck up warm conversation with fellow diner at next table, had fabulous home made pasta with wild boar. Started with mozzarella and anchovies crostini with olive chopped liver. Nozolle Chiant house wine v good too. Went for lunch. Offered complimentary vino santo at end of the meal. Even met their Golden Retriever Romeo! Came into restaurant to dine... More

This is an example of just as good the second time you dine there! How many times have I been less than thrilled with the second experience at a fondly remembered restaurant. Had the house special pasta which was simply divine! Service was excellent on this visit as well. Will look forward to another visit in a few years!

This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend who frequents the Tuscany area. Why it is not more highly ranked on this website is beyond me! Service was impeccable, food outstanding. Family owned, there are some dishes based on "secret " recipes that were a little more expensive but well worth it. We also had a homemade ravioli with... More

Out of the way place with excellent food at reasonable prices. Very unpretentious. The owner and his wife will greet and wait on you. The outdoor tables are nice, but are covered in a cloud of smoke from other patrons

My third time in Florence and stayed 10 nights this time. Il Profeta is one of the best Italian trattoria / restaurant of my experience in terms of food quality. The restaurant is located on a corner of a small street (almost every street in Florence is small) about 5 minutes from SMN train station and near Arno river. I... More

Fantastic service and even better food! They start you off with an explanation of the menu (after they ask which language you prefer) then bring you toasted bread with olive oil, they best olive oil I've ever tasted. I ordered the ravioli with cheese and pear, which is hands down the best meal since we've been in Italy. Another reviewer... More

Being a big fan of Italian food, I am extremely picky with the quality and taste of pastas. Before stopping by Florence, I spent a couple of days in Rome and Venice. Honestly, I was really disappointed with all the recommended restaurants I went to in Rome while Venice's were ordinary. As you can imagine, I was totally uninspired and... More

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel during our stay in Florence. It is not to be missed. We were greeted by a English speaking waiter who was both knowledgeable and entertaining. He took the time to explain the entire menu to us as well as select a wine. We both had the house special which was to die for.... More
