This is my second time at this restaurant so from my memory it had high expectations. I must say it was better this time than I can remember ! Great fun staff and the owner Claudio is great! I understand the negative reviews given the "credit card machine being down" but just bring cash (the should just say cash only instead of the ruse). It's a very nice spot. Great service. Wonderful owners. The food was great. Fresh pasta. Great service. Yes more pricey for the "house specialities" but we really enjoyed the food and the staff and... More

I don't understand all the rave reviews of this place. Am I missing something? Most reviews say the food is excellent; I beg to differ. It was bland and uninspiring. I am a self-proclaimed foodie and I didn't think this place was worth all the hype. The portions are really small even for European standards. They try to sell their... More

service is top notch with a great menu of unique and beautiful looking and tasting dishes. The truffle pasta is one of the best meals I had. Besides all the pizza I ate everywhere. lol. Great place for dinner.

The food and service were good but this place is a tourist trap. They take advantage of tourists with the following: 1) They will tell you that their credit card machine is broken so that you have to pay cash. I don't like being lied to. 2) There is a relatively high cover charge at 3.5€ per person 3) They... More

Tucked down a street near the railway station this unprepossessing restaurant could easily be overlooked. The few street tables are to be avoided unless you like NO2 air. Inside a warm greeting from this family run business and a lengthy explanation of the traditional Tuscan cuisine softens you up at one of the small number of tables crowded down the... More

We had an amazing dinner. Ask for the "Tavolta" -- it is their specialty pasta that is so good John Tavolta licked the plate. We added an extra order just so our party of 6 could get 1 more piece of the best pasta any of us have ever had. The signature desert which is like tiramasu is also excellent.... More

The setting is nice and the waiter was cordial, but the food was nothing to brag about and the prices are extremly high compared to several other nearby restaurants with better food.

We were rushing to the train station and still dizzy from Il Duomo. Dashed in here for a quick bite. Truly amazing! Really friendly staff. Owner sat us down and gave us 2 glasses of superb white! Fed our 5 children (6-12) and gave us a great deal. Recommended antipasta for us and quick pasta for kids as we were... More

We found this website as a recommendation of the hotel and I saw quite a lot of positive feedback here on Tripadvisor. The restaurant is located in a small street a little outside the center of Florence. The reception was very friendly....however I found a little too friendly. We received the card and already one remark..... everything was translated in... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
