Pollice su!

IT: Abbiamo pranzato in tre in questo bellissimo ristorante. I tre secondi con contorni erano ottimi e anche il dessert ci ha conquistate. Simpaticissimi e alla mano i ragazzi dello staff. ..Second time at La Spada. Great food...Great price....Great service..I had to have the Florentine soup that my family was raving about and it did not disappoint. I can see us returning daily while on vacation in Florence.

We stopped at La Spada after the recommendations of our concierge. When we arrived we were seated in the front by their stove, super HOT! I noticed everyone else was seated in other rooms. I told the waiter that if he had a cooler room as it was too hot. Another gentleman told him to sit us in the back... More

A very clean restaurant hidden among the small side streets of Florence. Decent steaks, good service, but not extraordinary.

A little non-touristic restaurant with excellent Florentine cuisine. We were with kids and all plates were returned empty. The prosciutto, Caprese, lasagna and pasta were all perfect and arrived with a hearty service (no English though) and a bill of less than 20€ pp. the place is located a couple of minutes walk from Piazza Republica. A wonderful alternative to... More

Good hearty food thats genuine roasted for hours over wood fire. But do not get the mixed roast at they are a bit harder. Florentine soup is great, as well as the chicken and steak.

This nice restaurant provides you with good food in a nice atmosphere. Waiters are very friendly and help you with the menu, if needed. You should once try the Bistecca Fiorentina, famous in Florence, but mind that you need to be at least with one other person... You get quite a piece of steak, make sure that you tell the... More

Eat with family, despite the small set back that they don't do pizza! Our children found something tasty to eat. Pasta lovely, steak, chicken and rabbit tasty. Good selection of local wine and very helpful staff.

The chicken, baby backribs and the pork loin are good. The beef steak doesnt have much taste in it. The sausage is a bit too salty to our taste. So, not bad at all, a good break from pasta and pizza.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
