Good barbecue

The chicken, baby backribs and the pork loin are good. The beef steak doesnt have much taste in it. The sausage is a bit too salty to our taste. So, not bad at all, a good break from pasta and pizza.

This is a good restaurant for you to get yourself off the typical touristic restaurants. Easy to find, not pretentious, nice service, great food and great price. Not expensive at all and it does give you a sense of home cooked food. We had the carpaccio, tagliatelle tartufato and roast beef all"inglese (loved it). The house wine (red) is also... More

We popped in for the €11 3-course lunch which was pretty good value. The penne pasta was nice but nothing traditional. The spare ribs we're dry and tasted of salt. The Roast Beef was cooked nicely. Waiter that we had was possibly the grumpiest bloke in all of Italy which made the whole experience quite ordinary. I would not recommend... More

Good food and the service was fast the food we order came really fast and was with a good taste. Portion of the food was big enough. Restaurant is very big. You can take a chance even you have no reservation but still make a reservation is always better.

In a back alley street, this is a friendly place with engaged and cheerful staff, closely set tables, and a neighborhood atmosphere. The menu is diverse and we three each had different meals, and all were excellent. It is the kind of place where you can relax and linger, have a nice glass of wine, and feel like you are... More

We were advised to go to this place by a tour guide saying it was the only steak house she would go to and I can see why. My boyfriend and I both had the set menus with the Florentine steak and were not disappointed. We had a cold meat platter to start each.. Probably actually 1 would have been... More

Ate lunch with my family here today and the food was spectacular! Had the full course with wine and the food melted in your mouth. The gelato at the end capped it all off. The atmosphere was perfect and easy to understand why the locals keep coming back. Our taxi driver recommended La Spada and boy are we glad we... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
