Best Meal in Florence

In July we enjoyed wonderful, friendly service and had an amazing Florentine Steak! The whole experience was very authentic and all the dishes were delicious. Best of all, the house red wine was made by our waiter, Roger. It was so good we begged him to sell us a bottle to take back to our hotel... read more

I went to this place after reading many reviews. The food is average and portions small.... For an "authentic" restaurant the food is overpriced considering the lack of creativity and blandness. It was a decent meal but I would not have paid more than 5-7 euro for what was served especially considering how far out of the way it is.... More

Its a little bit of a hike to get to the restaurant (south of Palazzo Pitti), but its worth the effort. Its up a side-street in a little local 'hood, and the moment you enter, the ambience hits you like a wave - it screams "classic italian trattoria" in a way that is only achievable by the genuine thing. The... More

Rugger is on the rather dusty Sienna road, just outside the Porta Romana. We arrived by taxi, as we had got lost on the Miniato hill. It has a small l- shaped room, with tables closely crowded together. The menu was similar to many other restaurants, but the dishes (mostly tuscan0 were prepared very carefully and were delicious, including an... More

Great little place with great food at reasonable prices. Clientele mostly locals. The prosciutto for the appetizer is sliced fresh at the time it is ordered. We liked it so much we went two nights in a row to make sure we tried a variety of their delicious dishes. Since it is a small place and popular with the locals... More

We visited because it was open on Sunday night. Our booking was 9pm. It was packed and very homely. It's 10-15 mins in a cab south of the centre. My dinner was superb - fresh artichokes, pasta with white truffle (€25 and a LOT of truffles - $200 worth if in London or NYC), bollito misto (tongue, foot and rib)... More

We had heard about this restaurant from a couple of sources so we made reservations. It is pretty much off the beaten tourist trail and our table of four seemed to be the only non-locals. However, the waiter was fluent in English and explained the menu to us and made some excellent suggestions. The helpings were all very generous and... More

Plus good service, reasonably priced and friendly atmosphere. I would never have chosen this place if I was just walking past.. but once you are in it is really lovely! I had the pork.... amazing! And my husband had the steak, also amazing! Would definitely recommend (although I felt a little overdressed)

This place was recommended to us by the gardener at our holiday cottage. It was only a short walk away and we ate there twice. The food was excellent on both occasions as was the atmosphere and the staff. Authentic Tuscan cuisine away from the main tourist traps which meant it was a far more authentic Italian experience. The guy... More
