Atmosphere, murals and good food

Loved the interior. Murals covered the walls in each of the rooms. The maitre'd and wait staff were excellent. I must be partial to first courses. Their insalata Garga was perfect. The veal with avocado, cream and truffle oil was good, but not up to the taste of the salad. My three fellow... read more

This was the first of 12 restaurants we dined at during our recent vacation. It remains perhaps the best meal. The host was friendly and personable. Loved the crazily painted walls! Food was excellent. Highly recommend.

This meal is up there when it comes to one of the best! I had a steak with a great sauce on top. The bruschetta was so fresh and tasty. The whole meal was yummy. But why I'm here is to write about the staff. Nicolo was just the best. We had such a great time and he gave us... More

We ate here on our first night in florence. It was one of the best meals we had in Italy. The pasta with saffron and prawns was unique and incredible. The chicken was perfectly cooked and delicious. Pricey but worth it. We can't wait to go back!

Did we perhaps stumble into an alternative universe? Don't understand all the positive reviews for this place. Our experience was awful, start to finish. We wanted to smack the waiter he was so proud of himself. he started by shaming me for trying to order a Campari before dinner, saying Italians would NEVER do this. He talked us into a... More

This was a recommendation from our hotel. We were looking for a great place to get bistecca alla fiorentina. I will say that the service was great and very friendly. Our first two courses were also good.....Prosciutto and burrata and then a ravioli dish that we enjoyed. But the bistecca was really bad and REALLY expensive. Coming from the US... More

The food at Trattoria Gargani was exceptional. I had potato ravioli with meat sauce while my husband had pear infused ravioli with sea bass and tomatoes. These dishes were amazing. While the food was exceptional the service was professional but a bit stodgy. Go for the food, which is heavenly, but not for warm or inviting service. It was pricey... More

By far the best meal I had traveling through all of Italy. Loved every single thing about this place. The service, the ambiance and most importantly the food were all outstanding. We discovered Trattoria Gargani by way of the TA offline City Guide for Florence which is installed on our mobile device. Seeing that many TA reviewers had been quite pleased with this trattoria, we decided to give them a try as a walk-in. Luckily, they had one table remaining and were able to accommodate us with no reservation. For our... More

Couldn't find this initially but after a little detour found it! No reservation but given a very warm welcome. The restaurant was busy with a great atmosphere. Very attentive staff and great food. A little bit more expensive than others of same quality in Florence, but definitely worth a visit.
